Spring Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Nature Art”
I would survive the stone age!
So get ready to laugh at this. Or me. Same difference! My friend and I were just leaving the park after she caught bees (she’s doing her Ph.D. in Botany). I tag along because it is more fun to go together to do this. Just as we were stashing things in the back of her car I sensed something brushing past me.
I jumped. I yelled. And I swung my arms in defense. Stupid move because I caught a really big twig falling from the tree. A couple of scratches later — that hurt my ego more than my skin — I pretended to pick up the stick and scold it. It was then I noticed the hammerhead. To break off the extra parts and turn it into a hammer was the work of a moment.
Et voilà! We had a hammer. Or a mallet — whatever you prefer to call it.
I had to look up the difference between a mallet and a hammer — you know how sometimes a word pops into your head? That’s what happened to me as I held the stick. In all those Enid Blyton school series books, didn’t they play croquet with mallets? Hmm.
My friend was laughing all the while and said, “You’ll survive anywhere.” And we headed off home, still laughing.
Thank you Mary Chang Story Writer for this rather challenging prompt. Always up for a good brain massage!
