As we move into 2023, we editors have decided that it is high time for a new Globetrotters banner! It has been a lot of fun going through some recent articles to cherry-pick some photos that I think truly represent what travel means to us all.

Let me explain the photos and why I picked them, plus you can read the story that goes with each photo.

Starting in the top left (and heading somewhat clockwise) we have TRAVEL STORIES BY GABE showing us how travel can bring us immense joy. Gabe is always full of great stories and positivity about his travels, plus he doesn’t hold back in telling us how his adventures have shaped and transformed him as a human being.

Robert Knight’s sunset photo in Zihuatanejo is a reminder that every day is a celebration. Sometimes it is only while traveling that we finally take the time to sit and watch the sunset.

Our resident naturist, Dan Carlson, has stretched my own perceptions of travel and really shows us that travel can be enjoyed in many different ways. No matter how you do it, travel can certainly broaden your perspective and mind.

Jordhan Robinson shares his adventures in Vietnam with us and shows us how a travel excursion looks while visiting a floating market in the Mekong River. Learning how others live on our planet is key to the travel experience.

Ab Writes shows us the beauty and majesty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Okay, I’m a little bit biased with this one because she is highlighting the very place where I was born and raised in her writing. But her article is also a demonstration of the beautiful places in the world that travel can take you to.

In a TWENTY-part series, Oscar Rhea brought us to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro with him! Travel can truly stretch the very fiber of our beings, and challenge us in ways that we never thought possible. Oscar has demonstrated this with his amazing accomplishment!

RT brings us on a raw and real journey in his attempt to try snowshoeing for the first time. It is when we are traveling that we are more open to new and different experiences.

Vanessa Brown takes us on her 42nd birthday adventure while kayaking in Thailand. Travel can certainly help to make celebrations the best they can be!

Darren Weir shows us Sintra and demonstrates how fabulous the architecture is. Travel shows us how each culture has its own unique ways of building structures, bridges, roadways, and well…..pretty much everything!

Maria Hayes uses travel to get herself out of her comfort zone because she believes that it is the only way to grow. Traveling can surely challenge us, and indeed as we tackle those challenges, we do learn and grow.

And last, but certainly not least, Kim Baker makes our mouths water with her incredible pictures of food. Of course, travel just wouldn’t be travel if we didn’t take the opportunity to eat different foods from around the world. Travel definitely teaches us that food is an important part of any culture.

While travel can bring us immense joy, it can also challenge us in ways that we never thought possible. But it is through these experiences, I believe, that travel shifts us and morphs us into the best versions of ourselves.

Through travel, we learn patience, compassion and an understanding of others. Through travel, we get a glimpse of something different; different food, different places, and different ways of living on the planet.

By leaving our familiar surroundings, travel makes us uncomfortable. But it is when we are uncomfortable, that we learn what we are really made of.

I applaud all of you Globetrotters for having the courage to step out of your comfort zones and for sharing your stories and experiences.

Your impact on the world is greater than you know!

Your editors, Michele Maize, Anne Bonfert, Adrienne Beaumont, JoAnn Ryan and I, Jillian Amatt, sincerely thank you for helping us to make this the best publication that we can, and we look forward to a future of continued growth and many more travels!
