PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
A Fiery Sky
Week 54 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
This summer’s photo essays are all about the skies, sunsets, and colorful festivals in the sky. This week I’m changing it up a bit by bringing in the fiery sunrises as well.
It’s been another week of jumping out of planes, flying above the clouds, and admiring colorful formations from the ground. The sky remains fascinating to me and I’m not done with writing about it. Not yet at least.

After half a day of jumping, I walked back to the trailer when looking across the airfield. The sun had disappeared already but those soft cotton balls in the sky took my attention.

A few hours later I woke up to this beautiful sunrise. Opening the door of the camper van I am staying in for the month I looked straight into the burning sky. My eyes were struggling with the brightness but my heart enjoyed the beauty of the moment.

I was talking about trying to capture more photos of the bunnies living on the airfield but funny enough, this week I did not see even one of them. As if they disappeared. Will try again next week.
But instead of rabbits, I got some more photos of the glory shining in the morning. Every sunrise is different. But unique in its own kind of way.

And one last sunrise shot for the week. The sun is hidden but already a good amount above the horizon. Clouds are blocking the first rays of sunshine. Perfect for me to get used to the brightness of the day.

Back home again. After a stressful and tiring weekend, I drove back home on Sunday evening. Back to my fairytale village. Monday was spent mostly cleaning and doing three loads of laundry.
On a quick drive to town, I had a deer crossing the road right in front of me and a squirrel was sitting in the neighbor’s garden. None of that was captured on camera.
But instead, I got a shot out of the bedroom window. One side is open since the window is rather dirty. Didn’t get to clean the windows yet.
Well, and picture two was taken a full five minutes later. I was checking the sky already for the last two hours since my laundry was still outside and I expected some rain to come. This shot is capturing the downpour in the valley.

Today I wanted to share something from home again. And nothing represents home better than the view across our lovely village. To bring something extra in the shot I decided to place this plum-leaved apple from our neighbors in the foreground.

Back at work again. The first half of the day was spent sitting in a car. Four hours straight towards the north. Then I spent 4 hours in the sky. That’s not right, more like between sky and earth. Taking off with the plane, jumping out, landing with the parachute. Fife times today. Not bad for a Wednesday afternoon!
Well, and then I remembered the photo-a-day challenge. I hadn’t taken a shot yet and since I was rather tired I decided a usual sunset photograph will do. Because they are all special. Over here. At least in my eyes.
This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome everyone! Dennett was the one starting this photography challenge sometime last year and many have participated ever since.
