A Cowering Fox in a Hole
A chapter of a ‘choose your own’ story — drabble edition.

The first part of your plan works well: the bear follows as you weave among skinny trees, close to where Taryn fell.
Losing the bear doesn’t prove so easy…
Hearing its terrifying snorting, you dive towards an abandoned fox hole beneath a bigger tree. Yelping in panic, you clamber in, as a huge claw slashes your backside.
“Owwch!!”
You slide further, finding yourself inside a tiny earthy den. The bear stays at the entrance, snarling.
Fortunately you are not badly wounded, but you are left with no option but to cower here.
When you finally crawl out, evening is falling.
