AMA: The More Stories You Write the More Money You Make
True or False?

What I’m about to share is in response to Carlo Zeno’s prompt — Carlo Zeno Prompt Challenge. Yes, it is about money.
How much did I make in August? $624.11 and that’s cool.
And to anyone starting their Medium journey, I’ll be the first to say, it wasn’t easy. It can be very frustrating, and the question that will keep on popping in your head is, “Is it time to quit?”
And you will constantly hear that voice in your head until you start earning enough money to say, “I’m staying.”
To quickly answer some questions that even Google tries to answer:
- Can you make money writing stories? Yes, you can. And on Medium, once you become part of the Medium Partner Program, then you can start earning money from writing stories.
- Do you get paid instantly when you write stories? On Medium, you get to see your stats instantly, and on your MPP dashboard, you can see how much each of your stories earns for the month.
- Will you get paid to write about your life story? Yes, you can. I see some writers do it well. But what works for me is in sharing my opinion on topics/issues that I’m passionate about or at least know something about.
If you have any questions as long as it is related to Medium, leave a comment below and I will try to answer them based on what I know, and what I learned through my two years of Medium writing.
August 2022

My top 4 stories in August.
Ricky Martin Incest Scandal Could End up with a 50-Year Jail Term
What Does Losing 21 Pounds Do for Your Body, Kim Kardashian
The Top 10 Active Medium Publications of 2022 | Medium
My Nude Beach Outing, Not as Bad as Adam Sandler’s
These four stories made $386.47. None of them were published in August, meaning they are old stories.
Each one of them has earned more than $100 since they were first published. I’m surprised that each story is still receiving new views and reads, and for that I’m grateful.
If not, I would have made less than $100 in August.
We all know what makes us money is when members read our stories. While it is also great if non-members read our stories, especially if they’re stories that could make America a safer place, the world a greener place, and someone’s mind a peaceful place.
I always try to remember that not everything is about money. I write so I can become a better storyteller.
I wrote more stories in August compared to July, and yet I earned over $1,000 in July.
To end, let me answer my Title with a True or False.

The More Stories You Write the More Money You Make
True. Since I started, I have over 1300 published stories, I also made some friends here, and I believe I have become a better storyteller.
Writing on Medium has also become my bread and butter, a job that allows me to be stay-at-home, and be with my family.
Yes, it is a job because I write and read every single day. It is also my dream come true, to be a writer.
One doesn’t need to copy what worked for me to find success on Medium. You also don’t need to write every day. You don’t need 1300 stories to be paid well or enough, someone here made $20,000 for one story.
How many stories do you need to write each month? There were months when I wrote 10 stories, a crazy month when I wrote 100 stories in 10 days, or a story a day.
I’m still surprised when a very old story suddenly appears on my MPP dashboard.
It does feel a little bit like YouTube, you earn residuals for every story you published.
As to Carlo Zeno’s question, what will I buy from my earnings?
Probably more dog food, dog treats, and dog toys for my fur babies, I have two:) PhiPhi and Crocker, and good coffee, we all have our weaknesses!:)
One last tip, publish with Smillew Rahcuef ‘s The Pub and to my favorite pub, Counter Arts they give you the views and reads you need to make you say,
I’m staying.
Thank you for reading, and hello to Carlo Zeno & Smillew Rahcuef.
