9 Painless Publications for New Medium Writers
My favorite publications as a beginner on Medium
As a new Medium writer, it can feel daunting to apply to publications.
Luckily there are many beginner-friendly Medium publications that accept new writers.
I’m going to introduce 9 painless publications for new Medium writers. These publications accepted my writer application as a beginner on Medium.
For some of these publications, you can write about almost any topic. Others have a more defined niche.
New Writers Welcome
As a new Medium writer, New Writers Welcome felt like a natural place to start writing here. This publication is a very welcoming and encouraging writing platform for all Medium newbies.
New Writers Welcome also hosts small writing competitions for their writers.
Writers´ Blokke
Writers´ Blokke is one of the Medium publications that accept new Medium writers. You can write about almost any topic for them, but their highlighted tags are ´Life´, ´Self´, ´Love´, ´Short Stories´, and ´Writing´.
Illumination
Illumination is a publication with a large following. It is open to new Medium writers. The founder of Illumination, Dr Mehmet Yildiz is constantly encouraging new Medium writers on their journey.
Illumination has many integrated publications, including Synergy and Illumination Curated.
They even have an integrated publication specifically for complete beginners. This publication is called Readers Hope. Its goal is to transform readers into writers.
The Shortform
Less is more, especially in The Shortform, a Medium publication dedicated to short-form posts. This publication gives a good home for your stories with 150 words or less.
Writing short-form posts is smart because they take less time to write. You can earn money with short articles too.
About Me Stories
You can write a self-introduction to your readers and publish it in this publication. I admit that I haven’t written my story yet. For some reason, writing a self-introduction seems like a difficult task to me.
Artfully Autistic
Artfully Autistic was the first Medium publication I wrote in. All my stories about autism have got published in this publication.
I recommend them if you’re a neurodiverse writer and want to write about neurodiversity.
The Haven
I’m a new humor writer; I just recently found out I love writing satire. The Haven accepted me as a writer right away.
I recommend The Haven for all aspiring humor writers.
Tiny Life Moments
This small publication has a specific structure for the stories, which can be helpful for writing. The format is “story — reflections-takeaways”. The idea is that you share a moment in your life and what you learned from it.
100 Days 100 Ways
100 Days 100 Ways is a small publication dedicated to self-improvement projects. If you have a self-improvement project you want to share with the world, this publication is for you.
The idea is to write about your project daily for 100 days. That forces you to build a daily writing habit too, which is helpful. The posts can be short updates; don’t be afraid you must write a novel every day.
I only kept up with my 100-day challenge for 11 days. I find it hard to write about the same topic daily. The writing challenge was still worth it because I got a headstart for my project.
So, these are the nine publications I have experience with as a new Medium writer.
Do you know any other good publications for new Medium writers? If you do, please share your favorites in the comments.
