How I Got 100 Followers in Less Than Two Weeks

These tips will help you reach the Medium follower quota fast

I was happy to see I have reached 100 followers, so I was eligible to apply for the Medium partner program. It was my goal from day one to join the Medium partner program. I was willing to do what it takes to get the 100 followers required to reach that goal.

I thought it might take a month or even longer to get 100 followers, but it took me less than two weeks. How did I do it? It’s not rocket science, but this information might help new members. So, I’m going to share with you the things I did that helped me gain followers fast.

I Wrote a Decent Member Bio

I’m not going to brag that I have a mind-blowing member bio. I know it’s not mind-blowing. But I have a decent member bio and that seems to do its job.

If you leave your member bio empty, people don’t know who you are. Why would they follow you if they have no idea who you are and what you’re interested in?

Can’t think of anything to write on your bio? Then, write something like “Coffee drinker, mom of 3, and lover of cozy mystery novels”. It’s not very original to say you’re “a mom of 3” and “a coffee drinker”. But at least you’re sharing something about yourself. You can always improve your bio later on your Medium journey.

I Published New Stories Almost Daily

I never thought I would be able to publish blog posts almost daily. But that’s what I’ve been doing during my first 13 days on Medium.

It might be because I’ve written on various topics here. For me, it’s easier to write about different topics. I don’t get bored that way. Some Medium members say you should write within one niche, but so far it doesn’t seem that way to me.

Even though I’ve written on all these different topics, I’ve been getting new followers. You should publish lots of stories as a beginner. It doesn’t matter if you write about different niches. When you publish stories people want to read, you get new followers.

I Wrote Long Comments on Other Members’ Stories

I’ve been posting lots of comments on other members’ stories. I didn’t only leave a comment, but I actually read the story first.

Also, I left long comments. So, I didn’t write “Thank you, great post”. Why would people want to follow you based on such a generic comment? When you write a comment that adds value to the post, people who read your comment are more likely to follow you.

The comments work the same way as your stories. When you write something that adds value to your readers, they start following you.

Other Ways to Get Followers

The Follow for Follow Method

Of course, there are other things you can do to get followers fast. For example, you can follow other members hoping they follow you back. I didn’t do that. I did follow other members, but only those who interested me. So, I didn’t follow lots of random members to get them to follow me.

Leave a Comment on This Story to Get Followers

There’s also a thread for new Medium members with less than 100 followers. I got some new followers when I left a comment on this post. Justiss Goode wrote this story to help new members. Thank you for your help, Justiss!

If you have less than 100 followers, you can leave a comment on this post. Remember to return the favor and follow at least 10 people who have left a comment on the thread.
