To begin with, why is even important to identify whether you have mindset blocks or not?

Well, if you run a service-based business or a solo business offering coaching, therapy, freelance work, and consultancy, mindset blocks can keep you stuck or struggling more than you need to. You are carrying excess baggage on your back even as you try to scale to greater heights. Mindset blocks obstruct your success.

A mindset block often arises when you tell yourself “I want to achieve this goal or dream but (the reason)”. The “but” often stems from a limiting belief. Your “but this” or “but that” can actually be excused.

Excuses are a form of self-sabotage. You may even have more than one “but” on why you can’t achieve what you want.

If you drop the “but”, there is nothing in the way. What you say is just “I want to achieve this goal or dream” full-stop.

Thus, you are clear, without an overriding reason as to why attaining your goal is not possible. Without an excuse, you are not giving a way out for yourself.

Clearly, it doesn’t help to be in denial or to avoid the topic of mindset block altogether. Just think about this. Time is a precious resource and you want to achieve success sooner than later.

If you are someone in business, having mindset blocks can impact your ability to generate income easily.

Owning up to any limiting beliefs offers you the opportunity to make a shift.

Thus…

If you want to improve cash flow, if you want to generate better success, if you want to shift to the next level,

learn to recognize the signs.

5 signs that you could be having a mindset block

  1. You are stuck.

A situation of being stuck happens when you keep going round and round in circles. Or it could be that you take a few steps forward and then backward, thus making only negligible improvements or even back to square one. You can’t seem to figure out what to prioritize on.

In terms of “buts”, you could have plenty of reasons why you hold yourself back. Reasons like - Not the right age. -Not the right time. - Don’t have the right resource etc.

Thus, it’s not a problem of not having the know-how but a pure mindset block issue.

2. You don’t like being visible.

If you are offering a service, it is likely that you need to show up to build your brand too. Thus, you need to market and therefore be more visible. People buy your services when you show up as someone they can trust.

However, the thought of being visible may make you feel ill, exposed, or naked. You don’t like the idea of selling. Also, you may fear the loss of privacy where you simply do not like the idea of strangers checking up on you online. Or you may fear that you’d be criticized for the messages that you share.

Showing up on video may also trigger alarm bells. You may have imposter syndrome, believe that you are not good-looking enough, or have the fear of rejection on social media. These are the “buts” that stop you from being more visible.

3. Not Enough Cash Flow.

Cash flow is an important indicator that you cannot ignore.

You may have been in this business for some months or years, but are you generating enough cash flow to cover minimally your expenses?

If you are not generating enough, it can be either a mindset issue or strategy issue, or both. Hence, find out what is holding you back from generating cash flow.

Ask yourself this: what could be the limiting beliefs that are stopping you from taking the action that will help you generate more leads?

4. You are Unable to Shift to the Next Level

An inability to shift to the next level can manifest in many ways.

It’s a common experience to feel the exhilaration of initial success and then somehow, after the first breakthrough, you find that you weren’t able to repeat the same win. This can create tremendous stress and you may attribute it to beginner’s luck.

Or it could be that you are stuck at a certain income range and no matter what you do, you can’t seem to get a breakthrough. In such a case, you may have unconsciously set a glass ceiling to how much you can be making.

You could be driven by fear such as, “I want to make an income breakthrough but I fear having to undertake greater responsibility.”

To break free, ask yourself, what is the “but” that is preventing you from shifting to the next level?

5. You can’t ask for the money

Many solopreneurs who offer services run into the difficulty of asking for the money.

You find it difficult to get into a money conversation without feeling tensed, guilty, shameful, embarrassed, unworthy, or not good enough. Thus, you choke, stammer, beat around the bush, or fail to talk about your service packages altogether. All these disruptions are indications of having mindset problems.

It is important to work through any money issues or problems with selling. If you don’t ask for the money or you have tremendous fears around this, you won’t be able to generate the income that you want. You may as well be running a charity, instead.

Release Mindset Blocks That Are in the Way of Your Success

Addressing mindset blocks is non-negotiable if you want to be in less struggle. You want to give your business the best chance of survival. Hence, let go of any baggage that doesn’t serve you.

One great way to release mindset block is via Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping. EFT tapping involves using our fingertips to tap on specific meridian points on the face and body, for emotional release and clearing of any self-sabotaging beliefs. It’s easy to apply and in many cases, has shown that it can offer effective results.

What’s great is that when you break free of your blocks, there is a ripple effect that potentially affects all areas of your life. You grow in confidence, self-esteem, and wellness. This creates a positive impact on your business and the money that you make.

Wishing you much love and abundance always, Evelyn
