5 Keys To Build Healthy And Fit Life

And become healtheir and happier everyday

By Author

While growing up, I was petite, and everyone used to make fun of my body shape, commenting on how small I looked.

Some of my friends and cousins used to say how invisible I look because of my petiteness and shorter height.

This constant teasing and shaming led me to believe that I have the worst body and start hating it.

And top of that that let me become highly conscious of what I wore and ate.

I visited countless doctors, hoping to find something is wrong with me, but physically, there was nothing.

However, the emotional impact of people making fun of my body was significant, and they didn’t realize the lasting repercussions it could have.

As an adult, I never fully loved my body and found imperfections everywhere.

Especially as a woman, where self-worth, confidence, and how others perceive you often tie to your physical appearance.

The reality is that people are often attracted to and prefer being friends with those who fit to certain beauty standards and body types.

You know, there are countless movies, TV Shows and personal experiences to prove this.

Five years ago, I decided to shift my focus from hating my body and appearance to caring more about how I felt about myself and my self-worth.

Accepting my body shape and making a change in my mindset was a priority.

I tried various workout regimens, hire trainers over the years until I found the one that worked best for me.

However, building the habit of regular exercise took even longer and it’s still on going.

Here are some lessons I learned over the years about starting and maintaining a successful workout routine:

1/ Don’t start with hate:

This is the mistake I did when I started my fitness routine.

It started with hating my body.

In last 5 years if I have to tell you one thing, that would be, don’t start with hate.

You are starting working out because you hate the way you look?

or starting out because you don’t fit in the crowd?

Think again.

Whatever the reason you choose, choose it to become better than you are today, to live a healthier happier life everyday.

Starting your fitness journey with hatred for your current physical state won’t lead to a sustainable routine.

Choose to improve your health and well-being because you want to live a healthier, happier life.

Not because you despise your appearance or want to fit in with others.

2/ Personalization is key:

Find a workout routine that suits your personality, fitness level, and lifestyle.

And it’s more likely you are going to keep doing it.

You need a deeply personal reason to get in shape.

  • Identify your why that is important to you.
  • Set a specific, realistic goal.
  • Find ways to achieve that goal.

When it aligns with your preferences, you’re more likely to stick with it.

3/ Keep it simple and consistent:

Choose a routine that isn’t overly complicated or challenging to maintain.

Consistency is all you need, and exercising around the same time every day can help you become consistent.

Here’s a hard lesson I learned over years of constantly working out:

You can get fit and look good by working out on simple exercises.

As long as you do it every day.

And it will help you to show up with much procrastinations.

It could be doing a

4/ Nourish your body:

Physical exercise is important, and it helped your body to build endurance and strength.

However a balanced diet is equally important too.

  • Fuel your body with nourishing foods
  • Avoiding excessive sugar and
  • Incorporate wholesome, organic food options.
  • Find healthier replacements to satisfy your cravings

5/ Embrace imperfection:

Life isn’t perfect, and there will be days when you miss workouts or make less-than-ideal food choices.

With my busy schedule that are plenty of times when I missed my workouts, sometimes even for weeks.

Instead of beating yourself up about it, accept that setbacks happen and get back on track with your routine when you can.

If you miss out on few days, start with:

  • A light yoga or a full body stretch
  • A long walk
  • Pilates session
  • Barre

Lastely,

The journey to fitness and self-acceptance is a process, and it’s okay to take your time.

My simple routine look like this even after working out for 5 years:

  • 15 minutes yoga stretch/flow exercise in the morning
  • Aiming for 5–7K steps every day
  • 5 minute meditation to center myself
  • 2–3 days of strength training

I am not competing with anyone or aspire to have ripped abs or show biceps.

For me, it’s all about how I feel from inside and staying active throughout the day.

Look for the sustainable routine as simple as you can.

So when you do something that doesn’t feel too hard, and you do it consistently, you’re more able to keep the workout.

If you are new start with 30 minutes movement every day and gradually increase.

Be kind to yourself.

Enjoy the process of improving.

And celebrate your progress along the way.

Prioritize your overall well-being and find joy in the journey to a healthier and happier you.
