5 Dangerous Falsehoods You Tell Yourself and How To Fix Them.

Sometimes when we are faced with adversity, the power of our thoughts can determine our steps in detrimental ways. And when it comes to the most important decisions that we make in our lives, we may take the unwise path if under emotional distress and choose a direction that can lead to our own destruction.

This is the fallacy of the human heart as it can control the human mind. And beneath this human condition is where our quality of life, deepest joys, and hope of future can be undermined instantaneously.

Here are 5 simple ways that you can easily change your self-perception and avoid the dark spirals of depression, being bed-bound, or the fate of poorly made life choices.

Falsehood 1: I made a mistake. I am such a failure.

We often tend to wallow in our own misery and make a 180-degree reversal on ourselves for no reason. Stop being masochistic in this sense as it is not the end-all and be-all of who you are.

Change the way you perceive the situation and avoid the all-or-nothing approach.

Adjustment: I just learned a new lesson and this will help me prepare for success.

Now instead of creating a gloomy outlook on life, you can take a proactive approach to looking forward. Take it as a lesson that you can benefit from and take advantage of.

Falsehood 2: This week will be impossible. I won’t make it.

Even though you just learned to not look to the past, sometimes looking to the future can bring anxiety and a sense of self-doubt on what you actually can accomplish. We tend to preempt ourselves by making assumptions and imaginary scenarios.

Replace the defeated attitude with one where you see yourself crossing the finish line.

Adjustment: It will be an amazing accomplishment after the week is done.

By taking this positive approach, we can feel proud of completing more things than we were even capable of.

Many times, it is an issue of self-confidence as well. To help you build that belief in yourself, try out several of the strategies outlined here:

Falsehood 3: I am just stressed, drained, and out of energy.

Our busy lives can get the better of us.

Endless tasks, appointments, Zoom calls, and meetings from work can overwhelm us, especially in conjunction with daily life errands. For those who have kids, you can get a feeling of being underappreciated for the hard work you put into raising your children.

While you may physically feel exhausted, more often than not our physical manifestations are actually caused by our mental shortcomings.

Adjustment: I worked hard up till now. I deserve some much needed rest.

Look at your efforts as a positive and reward yourself. Rather than letting the mental toll invade your emotional, physical, and spiritual state, bring a halt to the negativity before it spreads inside of you.

Try implementing these 6 quick effective ways to physically help you in times of fatigue:

Falsehood 4: I accomplished absolutely nothing today.

Even if we have a plan to finish an abundance of items on our never-ending lists, emergencies can come up. Or perhaps a variable cornucopia of menial tasks that just take up too much time. Or maybe just pure laziness.

Don’t fret as there is always another day.

Adjustment: The day is done so I have another chance tomorrow to be more productive.

Remember, each day is a gift to be taken advantage of, but tomorrow is another one where you can make up for lost time.

Have the mindset of resetting yourself each day and don’t worry about what has already passed.

If you feel you are inefficient with your time and need more practical ways to make the most of your day, then try these 7 simple tricks that can help you reach your full potential.

Falsehood 5: I just suck. I am not worthy.

Our harshest critic is ourselves.

In a positive light, it can be a good challenge where we take a “You vs You” approach. However, the majority of us may fall victim to a mentality of quitting on ourselves before we even get started.

Imagine the heights we can reach if we had a bit of self-respect!

Adjustment: I am good enough. I have come this far. There is nothing that I cannot do. I am a great catch.

When you face rejection, remember that you are just on another level compared to the other person.

When you face harsh criticism, it gives you an opportunity to improve or change the other person’s mindset.

Learn the meaning of self-respect and utilize some of these methods to not falter in times of tribulation:

It can be difficult at times to shift your perspective from a negative to positive. Our natural apprehensive tendencies can have an impact on our mental health and ability to achieve.

However, making these small thought-transformations in how I perceive and talk to myself has really unlocked more of my potential and attracted more positive vibes into my life.

I hope these help you do the same and that you are empowered to grow beyond the harmful limitations we often place on ourselves.

Take every moment to turn defeat into determination and insecurity into inspiration.

Perspective always beats circumstances so I wish you all a positive perspective that attracts an abundance of blessings into your life.

You deserve the very best. Period.
