5 Bold Truths That 99% Of Self Realized People Know And Practice
And how to use these small steps to make significant changes.

Whenever someone asks me, “How are you doing?”
I pause for a moment to find whom they are asking. The body, the mind, or the consciousness.
When my body is in pain, I convey it. When there is no physical pain, then there just ‘is.’
Sometimes when the mind gets lost in thoughts and prejudices, awareness grips it and reclaims its rightful position. Then there is just silence, nothing else.
It might seem easy now. But the journey was challenging. I struggled and slipped many times. My mentor's guidance and my thirst to know the truth proved a blessing.
In my search for myself, the ‘I’ dissolved somewhere.
Embracing the ever-changing life.
You might be familiar with the famous quote by Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher, “Change is the only constant in life.”
Your today is not the replica of yesterday. Your mood, opinions, situations, things, or people’s behavior may differ.
Each day is not the same. Every time you don’t feel the same. Every similar situation doesn’t trigger you the way it did previously.
Your emotions, reactions, behaviors, and opinions change.
Yet most people cling to the security of repetition.
Why?
Because you know what to expect. Knowing things beforehand gives you security.
This makes sudden changes scary.
However, the fact is a life constantly changes. It does not remain the same.
Forget life. Look at you. Even you are not the same as you were months or years ago.
But trying to control life and pulling its string with desires (to be in security) always backfires.
It happened to me many times.
Almost a decade back, while preparing for my entrance exams, a slight shift in routine irritated me. I could not focus on my studies.
The thought I had wasted my precious time would revolve endlessly. I didn’t know then how important it was to take a break and go out of home or to the market.
I’d waste more time than necessary with critical thoughts and backend anxiety. It’d then engulf my peace and focus.
How to use it
We can never control life, how much we try. One day or another, it will slip through your hands.
Self-realized people know that life can never be controlled. They realize that the desire to control arises from the ego. So they practice self-awareness when the desire or control occurs.
Self-awareness brings back the stillness and silence. Non-judgmental nature of the mind disappears.
With no judgments, they embrace whatever life offers. Every moment becomes a blessing.
Self-realized people don’t predict the future. They are satisfied and content because they know whatever life brings is the best, even if the mind thinks otherwise.
Mindful of the thoughts and mental stories.
In your fear, you create a prison for yourself. A cell where you feel secure, where you don’t allow yourself to venture out and even refuse to let anything else enter it.
By denying, you refuse the pure life to enter it as well. Unconsciously, you have created multiple mental prisons for yourself.
Do you know how you make those invisible walls of the prison?
With your firm beliefs.
It is you vs. your mind. And nobody can rescue you.
You are your jailor. You are your prisoner.
To be free from the invisible cell, there is only one key, i.e., your awareness. Your awareness of your limiting beliefs can dissolve the walls where you think you are secure.
Self-realized people are mindful of their thoughts. They may have opinions but don’t cling to them.
They know life is the highest intelligence. And gifts us what we need, even if we tag it as our enormous suffering.
How to use it
The limited understanding of life makes us think we know what we need. But do we really know?
Sometimes our fulfilled desires are our bottleneck for happiness.
However, life knows what you need for your growth. With no hesitation, it shakes us from our sleep.
Your current life situation says a lot about what you need to learn in the present moment.
The struggle you feel right now shows your barrier. Notice your emotions and feelings to progress to your highest self.
Your current distress shows your limited beliefs. Otherwise, it would not be there in your life.
If you are serious about your spiritual growth, be conscious of your current life situations.
Pause and notice what it is trying to show you. Instead of battling with it, be with it.
The present moment is the guru.
Once, my friend asked. “If you have an opportunity, what is one thing you’d like to share with people striving on their spiritual path?”
My heart said, “Be with the present moment.”
‘Now’ is the most undervalued time in human history.
You are either in the glory/pain of the past or trying to build a castle for the future.
But you are unaware of the hands and breath you use to build your fairytale future.
How to use it
Your current moment shows how you lived and why you are suffering/enjoying it.
Karma is nothing but your result of now.
Now is the result.
Now is the guru.
Now is what you all have.
Pause. Reflect. Be with it.
This ‘now’ may not be perfect for you. It may have some pain or distress. Then now is telling you to be with that distress. You can not escape it.
It is screaming to you to be aware of it.
Don’t dismiss life. It is the cumulation of all ‘Nows.’ Every life moments are precious.
Life is intelligence. It knows the best.
Life is not against you. It is your limited definition of life that restricts you.
Self-realized people don’t resist life. They know life is vast, and a limited mindset can never understand it.
Life supports you like a mother. It may seem cruel sometime. But it always tells ways to liberate yourself and live in your highest possibility.
Look within your deep self. Life is not the culprit for your suffering. You are standing against you.
Your desires to make everything right and your expectations to live in specific ways are your obstacles.
The truth is, you can’t escape yourself, your definitions, or your limitations.
You can ignore your genuine self and blame life and the situation. You can divert your attention.
But this won’t solve anything.
Instead, it will only increase your pain as you postpone addressing the fundamental issue.
Misery happens when we become blind to our deep-seated pain.
A person of awareness knows that you can never cheat life. There is no other way but to live it completely inside out.
How to use it
Stop clinging to your definition of life. Stop hoping that without your work/awareness, life will become happy and, someday, will make sense.
Shielding from pain is a temporary solution. Protecting yourself is strengthening your ego. You might think you have won against life.
But it is not true!
Open your eyes and realize life is always on your side.
It is your ego that thinks life is against you.
Awareness is the biggest security in the insecure world.
Your relationships may shatter. Your loved ones may go before you. Your money may dwindle. Your position may not remain so influential.
Life is fragile. In an uncertain world, only one security never leaves you, no matter what.
It is your awareness.
After COVID, my life shifted drastically. My best(est) friend suddenly died. I left the dental profession that I earned after so many years of hardships. From being an accomplished specialist dentist in a metropolitan city, I shifted my base to the countryside.
It might have felt worse if I was not spiritually inclined. My relationship with awareness anchored me through all the uncertain and dark moments.
I might not have had the strength to make such drastic decisions, but the precious life made it feel like a smooth transition.
People around me still scratch their heads. But deep within, I know it is for the best.
How to use it
No money, relationship, or power will remain the same. People might pull you down to their limited understanding.
But if you are true to yourself, awareness will shine forth.
Nothing is certain in life. There are no securities except one — Your consciousness.
It is not dependent on any external factors. It shines even in an ill or healthy body, beggar or king, loveless or loving relationships.
It is always there.
So there is no biggest security other than your awareness. The more you support it, the more it helps you.
The opposite of awareness is the unconscious pattern. So whenever you feel like slipping into your old patterns, bring back your attention to your breath or thoughts.
It will make you more aware, create a gap in the endless stories of the mind, and deepen your relationship with your consciousness.
Final Thoughts
Strengthen your inner self. Go inside and form a beautiful relationship with yourself.
Your awareness lies deep within you under the thick curtains of emotions and thoughts. Be mindful of your feelings, thoughts, and beliefs. Become empty.
Then the light of consciousness fills you and shines through you. The more you focus on yourself, the more you develop it.
