3 Surprising Things We Should Know About Our Magic Brain

Most of the time we’re not aware of it

Years ago, I didn’t picture myself writing about this topic; it wasn’t even in my mind. I knew that our brain is strong and complex. I didn’t have the interest to deeply understand how the connexions are made or how it works.

When started to realize that I gained focus when I was working with some classical music. I began to notice the difference. Indeed, I was more productive. Studies say that listening to classical music can enhance brain activity and act as a catalyst for improving health and well-being. Then I started to be more aware of our brain.

Our brain takes information from our childhood from the moment that we were born until seven years old. The unconscious mind was working. After seven years old, our conscious mind started to run the show taking information from that period of life, which was already written. That’s why our doubts, fears, and insecurities are stronger according to life in those times.

As a result of those times, we follow these steps: Thoughts lead to feelings, feelings lead to actions, and actions lead to results. So, here we realize the importance of our thoughts — This is where the things start, the root cause — and how important was the stage when your thoughts were written.

Let’s consider this.

Who You Are Is Dictated By Changing Connections In Your Brain

“You don’t perceive objects as they are. You perceive them as you are. Each” ― David Eagleman

It’s true that life is unpredictable, but there is something that is also a truth, People change. Sometimes we improve with age like a good wine. Sometimes we became bitter and pessimist.

I am sure everyone has experienced the personality altering effects of time. When you meet a person that you didn’t see for a long time, and you realize that he’s a totally different person.

Then you start to wonder what happened to the person you once knew? How can someone change so much? All is about the brain. From the day we were born, the brain is constantly making new connections and adapting to new situations. This shapes our personalities.

You are the result of all the connections that you make according to everything you’ve been exposed to. Let’s put it simply.

Every person you meet, a movie you watch, or a book you read shapes who you are. That’s why we should mind who we spend time with, If you want to fly with eagles don’t swim with the ducks. Also, consider what you watch and what you should read or not.

Your Reality Is An Interpretation Of Data, And It’s Objective

“Our perception of reality has less to do with what’s happening out there, and more to do with what’s happening inside our brain. Your” ― David Eagleman

We love to think we see the world as it really is. The reality is the brain interprets the information that was received. Your sense of the world isn’t just a product of your brain. It’s also shaped by the sensory organs responsible for smell, taste, and sight.

So our eyes aren’t like video cameras relaying information to the brain. Indeed, sight is actually a collaboration between these two organs. That means that your sense of reality is produced by the way your brain interprets information.

Our organs provide the brain with information that is interpreted as a reality. But this information is never more than an impression of the world out there. Merely an interpretation.

Most Decisions Are Made Subconsciously

“We cannot always control our thoughts, but we can control our words, and repetition impresses the subconscious, and we are then master of the situation” — Jane Fonda

Have you ever regret something you said? Or wonder, Why did you do that the last day?

Imagine yourself having a conversation or drinking a cup of tea if you had to focus on every minute movement those activities involve. Are the actions easy, right? They are only easy because practiced skills are performed subconsciously.

To put it simply, you’re better are doing things when you don’t think too hard about it.

Your unconscious is leading you even when you are not taking difficult actions. It’s just as likely to be in control when you are making everyday decisions.

Here is how it works: sensory and emotional feedback trigger different parts of the brain until you make a decision. Even common questions like what food you should get for lunch can stimulate intense neural activity.

So be careful, is also a truth that the brain has a preference for short term gain. Suppose you want to stick to your new workout schedule. Why not bind yourself to an agreement to meet your friend at the gym? Or to focus better, change the password of your phone not to watch it.

Remember, you become who you are, not because of what grows in your brain, but because of the bad thoughts that you have removed. Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition, good habits and emotion will one day become a reality.
