Have you ever been in a situation where you want to do something, but you’ve stopped yourself? Or you feel embarrassed that people will make fun of you? It’s happening all the time when listening to that voice inside, telling us how foolish we are. As a result, we finish doing nothing. It happens to all of us at least once or in the worst-case scenario, every day.

I remember a long time ago, I was at school when my teacher started to ask questions after his class finished; I began to pray. It was a nightmare, and I couldn't even breathe, thinking he was going to call my name. I didn’t get why I was so nervous.

It’s true that people used to make fun of us when we used to state our opinions in class. The truth is that bullying has existed since decades ago and nobody was talking about it, like now. The difference is that nowadays we have the magic of the internet. Now, we can share our experience or knowledge with different cultures all over the world.

These three keys will help us to stop listening to that voice inside. The voice who is telling you what you should or shouldn’t do. Embrace the fact that it is there, but don’t be guided by that voice. Let’s clarify why.

The Unconscious Mind Has Been Written From When You Were Born Until You Were Seven Years Old

Studies show that the way you think, feel, and act has been produced by everything you heard, saw, and the experiences that you got from that time in your life. It was because our unconscious mind was leading in that stage. After that, our conscious mind starts to guide us. After seven years old, we start to get information from our unconscious mind, which was already written. That’s why our doubts, fears, and insecurities are stronger according to life in those times.

“The unconscious mind works without your knowledge and that is the way it prefers.” — Milton H. Erickson

The right way to rewrite our unconscious mind is to be ready to change the regular bad habits and, eventually, the way that we think will change. I wrote an article that can help to add good habits to your daily routine. Remember, whatever we planted in our unconscious mind and nourished with repetition and emotions will one day become a reality.

Be Aware of Your Inner Voice

Listen to your inner voice even if it is telling you something that you do not agree with, it is not bad at all. Sometimes we try to fight with it. But we will always have good and bad thoughts, and that’s fine. Recognizing them is fine. But it doesn’t mean that you have to be guided by them. Not at all. Thoughts are just thoughts.

“You must learn a new way to think before you can master a new way to be.” — Marianne Williamson

So, remember that next time when something inside of you is telling you not to do it. Moreover, it is something that is going to make you feel better, just pay attention to that voice without following it.

Think That People Don’t Care What You Do

The only person who is worrying about it is You. You have to stop worrying about what other people think of you. Most of them are too busy with their things to really even notice what’s going on with you. Thinking in this way will help us to do our stuff without overthinking.

Think in this way; we only see successful people when they achieve their goals, when they are famous. Nobody saw the times when they failed before achieving those goals. That’s life; people see only the role models, the perfection, and It is what it is.

When we try something, it means we are working, thinking, creating. We have the courage to be exposed, and criticisms will come. Our ego starts to work, telling us we should stop, trying to protect us from failing and being hurt. Those moments are a perfect sign that is telling us, we have to be strong and keep showing up.

“The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person who is doing it.” — Chinese Proverb

Finally, we have to know that life is trade. You always give something to get something better in return. The moment you decide to rewrite your unconscious mind, to listen to your inner voice and analyze it, and finally, to care less about people’s criticism, you will start to feed a strong base to get your things done faster and with confidence.
