3 Subtle Signs of Spiritual Warfare to Pay Close Attention to

You can't resist what you don't recognize

1. Severe Discouragement

The moment you wake up, you become a huge threat. The moment you remember who you are, you become too powerful, and that's when the warfare begins.

There will be times when you face so much difficulty, not because you are doing something wrong, but because of who you're becoming. Spiritual warfare is a mental battle, and it begins when you remember your true identity and your soul’s purpose.

There will be times when you face all kinds of troubles and oppression, no matter how hard you work or how much you pray. You may battle anxiety and depression and all kinds of psychic attacks and no matter what trips or stuff you take or the people you talk to, you can’t seem to shake it off.

Scripture tells us to resist the devil and he will flee, but how can you resist something when you don't even recognize it’s going on? How can you fight when you're not aware you're in a battle?

It is truly hard to comprehend a threat that comes from things that are unseen, but the threat of spiritual warfare is very real. From the outside, it may seem like a problem coming from the people around you. It may even seem like the problem is coming from you, but that’s not always the case.

We all feel discouraged from time to time especially when things aren't going our way, but if you’re so discouraged that you are thinking about giving up on yourself or quitting on your soul’s purpose, that is not coming from you. That is an attack on you.

If you feel so discouraged that you don't see the point of living, that should tell you clearly that something is not right.

Severe discouragement is often an attempt to get you to doubt whether you can do the things you came here to do.

You must resist this kind of discouragement.

To resist something, you must first recognize it. You recognize what's truly going on behind the scenes by using discernment, oversight, and wisdom.

2. Crippling Condemnation

The spirit of God will convict you to point you to the things you do that are not serving your highest good. Conviction leads you to change and to transform and renew your mind so you're empowered, but condemnation does the exact opposite.

It cripples you.

Condemnation points at you. It tells you something is wrong with you. It tells you things can’t go so badly unless something is wrong with you. It says you will never be good enough to fulfill your purpose because your past is too dark to color. It tells you to quit and just go back to sleep because you were better off.

Condemnation is heavy, and it throws off. It makes you wobble.

Feeling condemned for your past, present or future is a clear sign of a spiritual attack. The adversary will do whatever it can to drive a wedge between you, God, and your soul’s purpose. It will do whatever possible to get you to go back into the matrix so you're easily controlled and manipulated.

When you feel so condemned that you can't pick yourself up to see the road ahead, that is not natural. When you're so condemned, you believe the lies in your head, there’s a problem.

Life isn’t physical. Your struggle isn't against flesh and blood.

Your battle is against forces in the unseen realm, more vicious than skin and bones and the life that flows through it. You have to put on your spiritual armor and be ready to fight when you feel condemned by strange voices in your head.

3. Paralyzing Confusion

Not everything unpleasant that happens is a spiritual attack. Sometimes it’s due to our own mistakes and shortcomings, but spiritual attacks are real, especially when your brain is so clouded and you feel so confused you can't think properly.

Confusion is often an attack on your mind when your mind has been turned into a battleground.

When your mind has been turned into a battlefield, you can’t think straight. When you're so confused, you've lost your vision and sight of your purpose, you need to take a step back and discern what’s really going on.

When it's an attack, everything becomes hazy and you think it's you. You think it's something wrong with your mind. You think you're mentally ill, but that's the goal of the attack — to render you powerless.

You find yourself rehearsing negative and defeating things over and over again. You believe things that go against the messages of God and what you know in your heart to be true.

God is not the author of confusion and you are not either. Confusion is not a fruit of the spirit. Confusion that paralyzes you is a sign of an underlying spiritual problem.

There are two areas you can fall into when you know about spiritual warfare. One is to make too much of it and give it too much energy, and the other is to ignore it altogether and give it too much power. The remedy for both is to find a balanced perspective and educate yourself on the topic.

Identifying signs of spiritual attack is good news.

This is where you recognize that what’s happening is not you, but something external coming against you. That is where you get to fight and resist. Then the warfare ends and the enemy must flee.

Remember this: Sometimes, the only reason you're been attacked is because of what's inside you. The thief doesn't break into an empty home. It breaks into the home where there are precious valuables. Maybe you're being attacked because of the power and greatness that is inside you. In that case, do not fear. In all other cases, still do not fear because fear itself is a spirit that attacks.

Because of who you are and what you carry inside you, you're protected at all times. Even when your soul is in warfare, you will be victorious.

Resist it, let it flee, and be free.
