3 Rules to Keep Me on My Path When Inspiration to Write Is Low

Writing about spiritual topics helped me put this list together.

Inspired

Most all the Medium articles that I have written over this past year on spirituality, ascension and awakening topics have basically come through me as inspiration.

They are collaborations between me and my Higher Self, which I call my Energy Group, and which I voice channeled from late 2019 to mid-2022. I continue to channel that energy in my writing and other activities, though I am no longer voice channeling.

When I feel inspiration to write, I also feel that I am on the right path, probably because I am more connected to my Soul (or Source).

But I don’t always feel that.

Uninspired

I sometimes go 2 weeks to a month writing nothing new. I am waiting for the inspiration to come, but it is not there.

Before I retired, there were many times when I had to write work-related articles, but I was not inspired to do so. That was work, and I do not want what I do now to be like that. So, I wait patiently for inspiration.

That also happened with my voice channeling. I sometimes voice channeled a lot, and other times not. Since mid-2022, I have lost interest in voice channeling.

But that is perfectly OK, because of the 3 rules I follow.

3 Rules

These are 3 rules that I try to keep in mind that get me through pretty much any time when things do not feel just right.

(1) Do not force change.

Or rather, do not force myself to do something because I think I “should” do it. “Should” is a word that I associate with the outer ego, which moves me in the opposite direction of my inner ego, inner self, or soul. We do things from the inner self (soul) because we are inspired to do it, and we feel good while doing it. — Knowing this does not stop the “shoulds” from coming up in my mind, but it helps to put them in perspective.

(2) Trust that the universe is perfect and know what it is doing.

Everything is happening exactly as it is supposed to happen, and everything will happen when it is supposed to happen — including inspiration. I have been blessed with many very memorable opportunities and experiences in my life that have simply appeared unexpectedly out of nowhere. — Remembering this helps me to have a degree of patience as I wait for the next inspiration or opportunity to arise — although I also find myself wondering when that is going to happen.

(3) Know that everything is a teacher and a teaching.

This was the subject of a channeled message that I received some time ago. My guides told me that they are communicating with me all the time, but that I need to be more aware of that to be able to sense it.

— This is actually the hardest of these three rules to follow, and the one that I most easily forget because we take for granted so much of the world that surrounds us.

Keeping these three rules in mind

helps when I am not inspired to write, or to do much of anything else that I feel I “should” be doing to be “productive” (rule #1).

When I can adequately calm down my monkey mind, I can, sometimes at least, appreciate the emptiness of doing nothing (rule #2).

Only when I do that am I able to tap into my more subtle senses to see the teachings and messages in the things and events in my world (rule #3).
