A Channeled Message from My Energy Group

The Outer Ego & The Inner Ego

A new way of communicating in the Aquarian Age.

ME: I am seeking a message that is in my highest and best interest. Blessings to all who hear this message.

NOTE: The following is an edited, and subsequently expanded, version of the original response I received. I have marked where my Energy Group’s messages start and end with [EG] and [end EG]. The recording of original message is linked below.

The word “ego” has many definitions. One that I like is that the ego is all the “stories” that we have adopted and tell other people when we talk about ourselves. I think this aligns well with how my Energy Group defines the Outer Ego.

The Inner Ego is a term introduced by Seth (channeled by Jane Roberts from the mid-1960s to 1984). He says the Inner Ego is the same as the Inner Self. Our Inner Ego organizes our inner world in the same way our Outer Ego organizes our outer world. I like to think if it as how we answer the question “Who am I?”. The deeper we go into that question, the close we come to our soul. Several Seth quotes on the Inner and Outer Egos are at the end of this article.

Global Awakening to the Inner Ego

[EG] You are seeking a message that is in your highest and best interest, and in the highest and best interest of all humanity, of your entire planet. For you and your planet are the same thing.

That is true for every being, because every being creates their own planet. Every being creates their own universe. Every being creates their own reality.

And you are in a time right now when more and more humans are expressing this knowledge. They are finding within themselves that they are creating their own universe, that they are creating their own reality.

They are finding this because they are stepping away from the reality that they have been told. This is the “freedom” part of awakening. It is being free from the story that the larger society tells the individual, that the individual then applies to themselves.

You can consider that the “outer ego reality”.

Most people have always lived in that outer ego type of reality. They watch the news. They go to school. And through institutions like that, through the churches, through schools, through your news sources, they are told what the world is like.

But now, with this transition of 2020, and moving into 2021, more and more people are awakening from that external ego source of identity — from relying on the external world to tell the individual ego, who and what they are.

Instead, they are awakening to discover within themselves who and what they are. What this means is that each individual is discovering their own reality.

As each person looks inside themselves, they see an entire world, an entire universe, that they have created. Although, to be fair, most do not realize that it is an entire universe and that it is entirely created by themselves. But what they do realize is that it is something rings true for them.

We could call the inner story the “Inner Ego Reality”. [end EG]

Other terms for the Outer Ego -vs- the Inner Ego, include:

— the Lower Self -vs- the Higher Self — the Past Self -vs- the Future Self (meaning one focuses on our past, and the other on our future) — the Ego (including the Freudian Id and Superego) and Personality -vs- the Deeper Self, Inner Self, Individual Soul, the Knower, and ‘Atman’ (in Hinduism)

On the “Knower”, Seth says…

Man did not have to learn by trial and error what plants were beneficial to eat and what herbs were good for healing. The knower in him knew that, and he acted on the information spontaneously. The knower is of course always present, but the part of your culture that is built upon the notion that no such inner knowledge exists and those foolish ideas of rational thought as the only provider of answers, therefore often limit your own use of inner abilities.

You will end up with, if all goes well, a kind of “new” illuminated consciousness, an intellect who realizes that the source of its own light is not itself but comes from the spontaneous power that provides the fuel for its thoughts.

…That k-n-o-w-e-r (spelled) is instantly aware of all your needs and is the portion of the universe that is personally disposed in your direction, because its energies form your own person. That protection always couches your existence.

Balancing Inner Ego and Outer Ego

[EG] Now, as they are realizing and recognizing this new reality inside, they are also still embedded in the external reality — the outer ego reality. And so, you’ve got these two egos. People are balancing and trying to figure out these two identities of themselves.

This sometimes causes conflict, because they do not realize that the internal reality is unique to each individual. It is very real. It is as real as, maybe more real than, the external reality. But it is also unique to each person.

At the same time, they are dealing with the outer ego, which is a socially constructed entity of sorts. Interactions with others define and shape it.

It is an entire universe for the individual. But it is more of a collective universe compared to the inner ego. It depends on who the other beings, entities, and energies are that influence that outer ego.

So, you have that outer, and you have the inner. — The inner ego is shaped by the energies of the individual soul. — The outer ego is shaped by the energies of multiple souls coming together.

So, the individual is expressing themselves from the inner ego, but then that expression comes into a play, a dance, with all the other expressions that are coming from the outer ego's experience with other beings. [end EG]

Now, you have made physical reality something different than was intended. You did this through using your own free will. Your egos have become overdeveloped, overly specialized. They are focused so strongly within physical reality and physical reality is far more painful than was originally intended. You are indeed in very strong respects within a dream. It is you who have made the dream too vivid. You were to work out problems and challenges, but you were always to be aware of your inner reality and of your true home. To a large extent, you have lost contact with this. You have focused so strongly upon physical reality that it has become, indeed, reality. COVID-19 & The Soul Connection

[EG] You still have conflict because the principal source of conflict in the past, of course, has been the outer ego. And you still have that.

However, it is tempered, somewhat, nowadays because everybody has been developing their inner ego. This has been forced, in part, by the pandemic keeping people home, reducing their amount of travel, and the amount of interaction that they are having with the world.

That process is naturally developing people’s inner ego. And as a result, inner egos are expanding.

The advantage of that is that the inner ego connects to the soul. The individual soul is a direct connection to the Universal Soul. And so everyone shares the same soul experience. They experience that individually, but it is also a single connected soul.

You have a soul that is assigned specifically to you as an entity and as a personality experiencing this incarnation. That soul is the same soul as every other entity at its universal or deepest level.

The benefit of that is that you can understand others in a way that the outer ego could never understand others. And so the potential for conflict, the potential for misunderstandings, the potential for polarities between people is reduced when you have that singular soul experience. That includes a connected soul knowledge, a connected soul wisdom, and connected soul emotions.

The basic emotion is love and when you feel that towards everyone, and everyone feels it towards you, then the differences between you and others become insignificant. The unity of everything becomes important and becomes realized.

That is a tremendous benefit that this pandemic has brought to humankind. It is because people are being forced to look inward, whether they like it, and whether they know they are doing it. And the more they do that, the more they connect with the universal soul.

Teaching the Inner Ego to Socialize

You will still see conflict in the world. There will still be outer ego conflicts taking place, because people do not yet know how to “socialize”. Socializing is an external ego activity. People do not yet fully understand how to socialize using their inner ego. Instead, most people still rely heavily on their outer ego.

But the outer ego does not have that connection, that oneness connection of the soul. The outer ego sees separation and enhances separation and division and diversity. Which is a good thing. Diversity is a good thing, but it is difficult to reach a consensus and a common understanding from the stance of diversity.

It takes a lot of effort, you could say, for outer egos to reach that consensus. And the more individuals are split between their inner ego and the outer ego, the harder it will be for them.

So, the spiritual path is one of bringing those two together — bringing the outer ego and the inner ego soul closer together. The reason you do that is because the soul has the knowing or oneness, whereas the outer ego does not. That is how relationships benefit.

Soul Connections in 2021 & 2022

Relationships benefit because when you connect at the soul level, that is a soul connection, which is a deep connection between individuals. It does not have to be gender or sexually oriented. It is just having that kind of connection with others from the soul side. It is not a connection from the outer ego side.

This was the transition of 2020, and is the transition that the world is currently going through. The pandemic, of course, is still going on in various ways around the world. But the pandemic brought people to look inward.

And as the planet emerges from that looking inward in 2021 and 2022, they are going to be developing new skills to connect outwardly, to connect using their outer ego, but using what they have learned from the inner ego.

This is not knowledge written in a book. This is more of a feeling tone that you feel inside. Feeling that truth about the soul connection.

And so, people are going to be learning this in this coming year.

There will be people that take a couple steps forward and another step back. Different people are going to be at different levels because different people are under different stresses, which results in different relationships between their inner ego and their outer ego.

But for the planet overall, that is what the process has been — an expansion of the inner ego last year, and continuing this year we go forward.

As your planet goes forward in 2021 and 2022, there is going to be a blossoming of this new way of relating socially to it, and to people.

That is something to look for. That is something you can write about to help expand this phenomenon.

Eventually, this new enhanced ability to connect at the soul level that will become common throughout the planet. It will emerge more and more in the next couple of years. [end EG]

End of the Pandemic

[EG] The pandemic will end when humans realize this new relationship that they have with each other, and with the entire planet.

Everything on your planet is experiencing the same phenomenon. It is not just human to human communication that is being enhanced by the soul connection. All the entities on the planet are, and will, be developing this skill to communicate at a deeper inward soul level.

So that is something else to be looking for, because humans will communicate with plants and animals, with the earth, with mountains, more than they have, in at least recent centuries, because of that soul connection. [end EG]

An Expanding Universe

[EG] Thank you for this interaction. We love you. We love the experience you are having on this planet.

We are learning so much. It is so helpful for what we also are going through in our Energy Group at our dimensional level. It is very similar. The entire universe is expanding, discovering new ways of communicating.

That is what this new era, this, perhaps you could call it Aquarian Age, is about. It is these new ways of connecting, communicating, understanding each other, working together to address the issues we all have in our own ways.

…the unit of self is organized, as you know, by the inner ego, which directs the whole energy field. The outer ego directs the manipulation of this gestalt in the physical universe. The outer ego is rather more tied to physical properties, and yet it can directly experience inner reality by a change of focus through aligning itself with the inner ego, focusing its energies with the inner rather than the outer senses. The inner ego knows when to apply safety valves, and is aware of the danger before the outer ego is alerted. The inner ego is concerned with maintaining the foundations and balance, which is very important, of the whole self, and it is open to messages from the overall entity. The inner ego receives messages through the inner senses, and is aware of realities which the outer ego cannot afford to recognize because of its specialization. — The Early Sessions, Book 3, session 119 on January 6, 1965

Now the inner ego is the organizer of experience that Jung would call unconscious. The inner ego is another term for what we call the inner self. As the outer ego manipulates within the environment and physical reality, so the inner ego or self organizes and manipulates within an inner reality. The inner ego creates that physical reality with which the outer ego then deals. …This is not to say that the outer ego is a puppet.
