15 Ways to Self-Reflect

My answers to the 15 questions of self-reflection. This will stimulate your mind, and heart. Get ready…

I recently got invited by Aurora Eliam, CMP to share my answers to the 15 Questions of self reflection. Invitation gladly accepted. Here bellow my answers.

1. What’s something that nobody could ever steal from you?

  • My relationship with God
  • My determination
  • My optimism
  • My dance moves
  • My growth mindset
  • My courage

2. Who would you like to forgive right now?

  • My fake friends and myself. I recognise my responsibility in cultivating such superficial friendships and I forgive myself for that and them on the way. As the saying goes: there are people meant to come into our lives temporally in order to teach us lessons and those meant to remain. The key being to be wise enough to let those meant to be temporally go in order to leave place to those meant to stay long term.
  • I also forgive the army that chased my family and I out of our native country.

3. What is “happiness”?

Happiness is a term I am being careful using lately. I use instead joy, contentment, gratefulness and fulfilment. These terms are more reflective of what is hidden behind the term “happiness”.

  • Some of these are felt while observing my son become a little being with his own preferences and character.
  • I feel grateful every morning when I wake up and I am still alive, breathing and able to walk out of my bed.
  • I feel joy when I look at the sun shine and the good caress it is on my face.
  • I feel grateful when I look back on the way done from refugees camps to the quality and comfort of life I have a this exact moment.

4. What impact do you want to leave on the people you love?

  • I want to create value for people I love.
  • I want to be present, listen and care for them.

5. What is life too short to tolerate?

  • Life’s too short to tolerate cruelty and lack of dignity towards any being.
  • Life’s too short to tolerate racism
  • Life’s too short to tolerate cowardice
  • Life’s too short to tolerate dishonesty
  • Life’s too short to tolerate fakeness

6. What’s something that used to scare you, but doesn’t anymore?

  • I used to be scared of public speaking, but not anymore.
  • I used to be scared of standing in my truth by the fear of not fitting in, but not anymore.
  • I used to be scared of my emotions, but not anymore.
  • I used to be scared of spending time alone, but not anymore.

7. What do you want to remember forever?

  • The indescribable feeling I felt when the midwife sat my son on my chest after his birth. Hearing him cry and in good health made my heart miss a beat. I was full of joy tears, felt relieved, full of bliss and admiration.
  • The moment I thought I had lost my siblings in refugee camps, to find them back again few days after, all safe and alive.
  • My fascinating Erasmus year in Finland, that probably changed the path of my life.
  • The strong emotions and togetherness I felt at my wonderful wedding day. A day I will forever cherish and be grateful for no matter how the marriage turns out.
  • The year 2018 — peak performance in many areas, blissful state all along and rich in life lessons.

8. What do you always look forward to?

  • I look forward to see my siblings and parents that live in a different country: them living in France and me living in Norway. I look forward to hugging each of them, listen to stories and updates, listen to music, dance, eat, dance again, talk, repeat.
  • I look forward to the next trip somewhere on the world map I haven’t been yet.

10. What recently reminded you of how time flies?

Nothing that I can recall.

12. In one sentence, who are you?

An evolving version of the human I was yesterday.

13. What’s the number one life change that you need to make in the next six months?

Make a clean up and click the button refresh when it comes to some of my relationships.

14. What would you do differently if you knew no one would judge you?

Nothing. I currently live that way: true to myself and judge who has time and energy to do so.

15. In one word, what do you live for?

Impact.

Difficulty creates the opportunity for self-reflection and compassion. — Suzan-Lori Parks

Women need real moments of solitude and self-reflection to balance out how much of ourselves we give away. — Barbara De Angelis

Until next time, remember to drink your water and just BE.
