You Were All Yellow!

Flash Fiction Story inspired by the header image of Victoria
He told me to meet him here. And wear a yellow beret, so he would know I was his date. But I need my outfit to match — like my lingerie. So I found this fetching pair of yellow check short dungarees at the vintage shop on the corner, and couldn’t resist them.
Now my outfit matches and by a wonderful coincidence I also complement the subway ceiling. It seems to be working out rather well. Except the fact I’m alone on the platform. So it doesn’t really matter what I am wearing, being as there is nobody else around he won’t have trouble recognising me. If he was here… Which he isn’t, yet.
He’s late… It is now ten minutes past the hour for our rendezvous. That does not bode well for the future. My time is precious. Lateness is a sign of tardiness, and I can’t abide either. Also, I am a bit of a coward — yellow, you could say — where dating a real person is concerned. I prefer cuddling up with my teddies, or even pretending I am one.
Which makes me wonder why I agreed to come here.
He should know that I’m a busy woman. I need to make sure I take at least another fifty shots of myself today, for my portfolio. Thank goodness I remembered my camera and tripod. At least I can take a few snaps before I go. You never know, someone might use this one to head their story. I wonder what they would call it?
You were all yellow?
July Prompt — Victoria
The brand-new prompt for July 2023 is Victoria Regen (also known as Victoria Rain). She is the lady in the header shot, and so many of you will know her for the prolific amount of free images she has on Pixabay and Pexels.
On Tantalizing Tales, her image heads a great amount of the stories. She is forever changing up her photography and has an image for most occasions. Victoria is such an inspiration for many reasons. She looks great. Is an opportunist. Obviously a determined, hard-working individual.
It has to be said, all the editors on Tantalizing Tales love her. We wish we could hold a party for her. But instead, we are dedicating this month’s prompt to her image.
We would like you to write a story that is inspired by a photo of Victoria.
Even though our prompts are evergreen for the year, this one is a little special as the editors will get together over a bottle of wine and choose our favourite response to the prompt.
- If you publish your story on Ttales, and are chosen as the fave, then it will head the magazine for the whole of August.
- However, if you want to publish your prompt story with another magazine, if you are chosen, we will write a promotional post for the tale and feature it at the top of our sister magazine Teaser Tales during August.
Win, win, whichever way you decide to go…

- Submit something to us with the prompt in mind; full length stories or Micro Monday flash fiction.
- Make sure to head your tale with your chosen image of Victoria.
- You’re welcome to post your prompt story on another publication. Just link it back to this newsletter and let us know by tagging Posy Churchgate or me.
- Prompt stories are given priority where scheduling is concerned.
