One of my blogging friends has challenged me to write an article called “Blogging Manifesto,” and I had accepted immediately.

The purpose of this article is to tell you a little about my blogging journey and, more importantly, to convince you to start your blog.

For this article, I need to respect the structure proposed by the initial author.

What Do You Write About?

I write mostly about what I feel and live. I have a full-time job in IT Support and struggle with the day-to-day tasks daily. I love to write from my personal experience, and I hope to inspire others to do the same.

I write about travel, books, leadership, and writing. Recently, something incredible happened to me, and I decided to group all the articles in a publication my girlfriend called Unusual Love Story. This extraordinary thing is something called L-O-V-E.

If I made you curious to find out why is our love story unusual, read the below post written by my girlfriend:

I am deeply in love, and I feel that I had found the love of my life, my other half.

Why Do You Write?

Blogging is a way to give back everything I had learned in a hard way, to anyone interested in it. If an article of mine helps or inspires a single person, it has achieved its purpose.

I read a quote here on Medium that expresses my vision about writing:

Write to express, not to impress!

I love it. I had been blogging and writing content for over 10 years now while being in school or struggling with full-time jobs.

I had a period when I did not know what I wanted to do with my life; I saved myself by blogging. I know it sounds funny, but it’s true. I blogged over 6000 articles and paid the bills with the money I had received from Google Ads.

To sum up, this is what blogging helped me gain in over 10 years:

  • it helped me meet nice people
  • it made me be part of a community
  • it provided me purpose and made me work hard

I love talking and communicating. I find writing an extension to speak, a different but efficient way to express feelings and establish relationships with others.

Now Let’s Talk a Little About My Writing

I am still a newbie on Medium, but I am working at defining my writing style write now. I love writing texts in a “spoken way.”

I try not to use fancy words; I would love it if 5th-grade students could understand everything that I write here.

Before I hit publish, I try to answer the below questions:

  1. Why would I read this article?
  2. Does this article impress me?
  3. Does this article teach me something new?
  4. Does this article make me laugh?
  5. Does this article annoy me, at least?

If I am not able to answer any of these questions, I either edit or discard the post entirely because I find it useless in its current form.

What’s the Message I Want to Transmit to My Readers and Other Writers!?

Do what you love! Stop making compromises and start following your heart. The brain sometimes sabotages us bigtime.

Allow yourself to follow the heart and ignore the brain sometimes.

If you love writing, start writing crappy articles until you learn how to write better ones. For a list of quick tips extracted from Neil Gaiman, follow the below article:

If you are just a random reader scrolling Medium, never give up on yourself. Find out what is the thing you love doing and work hard to succeed. Stop suppressing your ambition!
