the reality on how to make money as a writer

My grandpa used to say, “If you earn $100, then invest $20 BACK into your business. This is the only way I made so much fortune!”

Hint — My grandpa had a small grocery store (he grew to 20 employees later). Also he was a real estate investor.

When I started out my online business, I actually threw away most of my 9-to-5 job money into it. I regret it later because I didn’t have any knowledge about the business back then.

So if you are new or have made only few dollars here or there or you are thinking of expanding your writing business then this is for you.

Note — If you are interested in Gumroad business, then you might find this useful.

My Honest Advice To Writers

  1. Don’t buy expensive software — At the start you don’t need any expensive software. If you don’t have that kind of money then leave it. Try to find free tools at the beginning state. Lots of free tools out there. I will list here soon.
  2. First earn then invest — I bought expensive software using the money I made from my business. If the software cost $100 then first earn it. Don’t use your savings to buy them!
  3. Save as much as possible — I cannot say enough how necessary it is to save money. I see many people see this as a middle-class ideology. But it’s not. My grandparents used to do it and so did my parents. This helped a lot after my father’s death. We survived on savings until our schooling was over!
  4. No need of website for beginners —Now websites are cheap. You can actually start with a $5-$10 per month investment. But I would say to avoid it. Once you make money, use the money to make a high-speed, well-optimized website. Just hire someone on Fiverr and save a lot of your valuable time.
  5. Focus on one thing at a time You are trying to become an Amazon KDP Writer? Then first concentrate there. Then later expand your business to Gumroad and other marketplaces.
  6. Never depend on one income stream Start with Amazon KDP and Draft2Digital then later to other marketplaces. Gumroad takes a little time to grow but it’s worth it! On Gumroad, you get paid within a few days!
  7. Invest, invest. Invest I invest in stock under my brother’s guidance. I don’t know anything about the meta world or Bitcoin. Invest, but also be smarter while doing it.

Conclusion

I hope you will find this article useful. I kept it shorter. Little bit in a hurry at this moment. Let me know what you think!

I hope you will find success not only in the writing world but also as a person. Overall development is a must. We need money but we need mental peace as well.

You don’t want to think about money even while you are sleeping, right?
