Wreathing the Neighbourhood with Festivity

Even though it’s cold — very, very cold.

Above is one of many wreaths PupperJack and I have been inspecting on our daily amble around the neighbourhood.

It’s very cold. Very, very cold.

More wreaths. I particularly like the way the two doors in the right-hand picture look as if they were deliberately painted colours to harmonise with each other. The wreaths are a similar style, too.

I wonder if those two neighbours are related.

It’s so cold all the pots outside are breaking. Well — especially if they were filled with rain before the freeze.

Some wreaths are made in local wreath-making classes — along with trying out different recipes for mulled wine; some come from local florists, and some come from online. I didn’t see two the same amongst them all.

These mornings when PupperJack and I amble around the neighbourhood inspecting people’s wreaths — and other festive seasonal decorations — are cold and misty.

These are the mornings when spiders’ webs show to best advantage on the cars parked around the place.

There’s an equal balance between wreaths made with fresh foliage, berries, cones, orange slices, and those made with artificial materials.

I like them both.

PupperJack is saying: “Oy! What are you doing looking at all those decorations when you’ve got me to look at all day long?”

However, he — PupperJack — refuses point-blank to don the wreaths himself.

When shown the pictures — above — of other puppers eager to please, he merely snorts in derision.

Dennett started the Photo-a-Day Challenge to help combat the pandemic blues. Since then many others kindly share their week with us:

Erika Burkhalter, Anne Bonfert, Tracy Aston, Lisa Bolin, Juan O. Aguilera, David Wade Chambers, June Nguyen, Mia Verita, LensAfield, Barbara Radisavljevic, Diana Lotti, Barb Dalton, Kim Zuch, K. Barrett, Penny Grubb, Ellie Jacobson, Shruthi Sundaram, Jillian Amatt — Artistic Voyages, Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles, Ann James
