Abstract

The poem "Worthless Squabbles" delves into a metaphorical dispute between love, friendship, and life, where each claims a unique role in life's journey. Love asserts itself as life's primary pursuit, while friendship argues its importance during times of hardship. Life, personified, remains enigmatic, acknowledging its own reasons. One fine day love and friendship had a squabble It was just about their association with life Life being all mysterious didn’t have her say Love arrogantly exclaimed “I am what life seeks all along” Friendship intervened “but I am its strength if anything goes wrong” Love stepped aside “ask for your self, I am life’s favorite season” Life smiled shyly “I have my own reason”. Friendship just stood in shock “Ill be here if you need me” In no time love and life were out of sight Together for as long as the days were bright Friendship was lonesome but stood by its word Shortly after life’s shriek was heard There came life shattered by love Once again to cry on old friendships shoulder

This poem is in response to the prompts Love, Life, friendship, and favorite season shared by my friends Chirag, Muhammad Zunair, Martine Weber, and Ayasha Khan in response to the never-ending poem by Martin Rushton.
