Hope: A Virtue
In response to Sumera Rizwan’s prompt Hope

Every night, When I try to close my eyes And calm my demons I think of quitting, Leaving everything behind And venturing on a journey of Dismay and decline
But every time, The Andy Dufresne, Residing within me, Comes to my rescue, Soothes my soul And prevents me From committing this sinful crime
He tells me to discipline myself And to hold onto life He preaches me about hope That it’s a virtue that saves us From the temptation of despair While keeping ourselves alive
Unlike most of you, I’m not that strong But like all of you, Being riddled with this enigma of life I have no option But to fight
Though, Stoics view hope differently, But I’m neither Marcus Aurelius Not a modern-day stoic And irrespective of what these gurus have fed me, I like to read between the lines
And the bottom line is, Hope is a good thing, Maybe the best of things. It’s all about living through the autumn — hoping for the spring — And striving for the good days Because One day, we all will thrive
Thank you, Sumera Rizwan for nominating me for this challenge/prompt.
My prompt for five chosen friends is Life.
