Wordsmithing
A Golden Shovel Poem
“Other days. You are the wordsmith of your own world,” James G Brennan
I might have sloughed it off as something other Than what I want to do these days But I could not do that, dear friend, to you. Knowing as I do who you are. So I put on my thinking cap and hope to see the Words that flow are worthy of the wordsmith That comes and makes my work of Higher quality by adding words of your Choice to my own And together we make a better world.
Thank you Rasheed Hooda for inviting me to participate in this challenge with your poem
And thank you Martin Rushton for starting the ball rolling with your great poetic introduction to this new-to-me form of poetry:
I’ll challenge my friend and fellow poet James G Brennan, whose wonderful poem “Days of Writing” spawned this one.
Thanks also to Holly Jahangiri, whose Golden Shovel poem “When I Am Nothing” used a line from my poem and helped me see how to construct one myself.
Finally, I’d like to tag a few of my favorite poets to construct a Golden Shovel poem. The instructions are simple. Choose a poem you like; choose a line or two from that poem; make each word in that line the last word in a line of your poem. Then link to me and to the originator, Martin Rushton. Ready to have a go at it?
