Summary

The text discusses the nature of wisdom, contrasting it with intelligence and emphasizing its roots in life experiences and the stories of wise individuals.

Abstract

Wisdom is depicted as a profound understanding that comes from a wide range of life experiences, as opposed to intelligence, which is characterized by the quick grasp of concepts within a specific discipline. The article suggests that wisdom is not about speed or youth but the accumulation of experiences, including failures and reflections. It is personal and cannot be scientifically measured, yet it forms a collective tapestry of human experience. The author argues that wisdom is conveyed through stories from wise individuals, which are more captivating and educational than classroom lectures. These stories impart lessons on respect, love, nature, and authenticity, guiding younger generations and affirming that life's experiences are not lived in vain.

Wisdom in A FEW WORDS.

Wisdom is a distillation of Life Experiences.

How do we know that a Wise Man is Wise?

We can tell through his stories, through his experiences.

A Wise Man would have seen it all.

At least, most of it.

A Wise Man is different from an Intelligent Man.

An Intelligent Man is able to grasp the core tenets of the discipline they are in.

They might able to be exhibit understand at a level that is much deeper and faster than their peers.

Intelligence has to do with speed.

Worldly-Wise attributes have nothing to do with speed.

It has nothing to do with youth either.

Have you ever met and spoken to a Wise, Young Man?

It sounds weird isn’t it?

I think that is because Wise has to do with accumulation of Life experiences.

  • When he was young, he went astray.
  • When he was working, he got ostracised in the workplace.
  • When he was actively socialising, he failed to attract attention from the other sex.

As he gets older, he reflects on the lost time and how he would have lived his life better if he could travel back in time.

Wisdom, comes from our Life Experiences.

Just like the Hundred Year Tree.

Through actively reflecting on what we have achieved, what we could have done, to what we want to get done but never got to the determination to — These are the stories that we tell our young.

These are the stories that we tell of ourselves, to recount our lives and through these stories reaffirm that we did not live in vain.

These are the stories that captivates our young and impart them Lessons in Life that would never be lectured in the classrooms.

Wisdom cannot be tested and proven by Scientific methods.

Because they are specific to the individual.

Yet every Wise Man’s wisdom tells a different part of human experience where forming a tapestry from and across many people’s Life would enable us to embrace Life in a holistic manner.

Respect for individuals is one.

Mutual Love is another.

Treasure nature is one.

Authenticity in social decorum is another.

We learn from stories shared by the Wise Ones.

It is through standing on their shoulders that we learn how to be our own Wise Ones.

And to others.
