Life Lesson/Lifestyle

Why You Should Live Your Life Intentionally

The highest intention is to give and serve others without demanding anything in return.

Living intentionally means ensuring that you live your life on purpose, by taking daily actions that are true to your values. It is an everyday practice. The opposite of living intentionally is living by accident, or taking the day as it comes. This can sometimes be stressful because you get more than you planned for and cannot think straight about what to do. Often, this leads to stress.

How To Live Life Intentionally

  • Declutter your space and mind, and have a clear vision of what is essential. The clear vision includes the foods you eat, the books you read, the people you surround yourself with, and even your leisure time—that is, what you watch on TV or listen to on the radio—all determined by the ultimate goal in mind, your priority in life.
  • To declutter your mind, cultivate a positive mindset, have an optimistic view of life, and believe that things will work out for your ultimate good.
  • Be careful with your spending by considering a minimalist lifestyle. Buy only what you need, and avoid emotional spending or eating.
  • It is not much to ask for, just by setting daily measurable goals, carefully considering your choices at each stage, and ensuring your choices align with the values you hold so dear.
  • Review your relationship from time to time. Drop those that are burdensome or no longer serve you, while you strengthen those that are worth it. In other words, protect your boundaries.
  • Surround yourself with more of what you want in life. It is very simple indeed. Think about it: If you crave more roses in your garden, you just buy more and plant them. If you want more love in your life, you start by spreading it. So surround yourself with what you like by intentionally generating it!
  • Have a look at how you spend your day. Remember, how you spend your day is how you will spend your life. So invest your time wisely. Don’t plan too much to stretch yourself thin. This can lead to stress and the ultimate breakdown.
  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle. Your eating, drinking, exercise, thinking, and sleep patterns must align with your values. This includes planning your meals ahead so that hunger does not force you to eat unhealthily.
  • Be grateful for small blessings, as this is the secret to happiness. Maintaining a grateful heart focuses your attention on what you have rather than what you don’t have and helps dissuade you from comparing yourself with others.

Living intentionally is fueled by purpose—that is, your whys.

Although money and material things are essential for freedom of body and mind, they cannot compare to or be evaluated in terms of lasting friendships, loving family relationships, understanding between business associates, or introspective harmony, which brings one true peace of mind!
