Why Do People Have Spiritual Breakthrough During Rockbottoms
It requires a heart of gratitude and a vivid observation to notice it

Every human reaches a point his life turns upside down.
We hit rock bottom. We feel like there are no more bad things that can happen to us. We feel like our entire world is collapsing, and we can’t do anything about it.
Helplessness, hopelessness, and pain become a part of our life. The tunnel becomes our life, and we lose the courage to believe in the light at the end of it.
The first time I was at rock bottom was when my parents were separating. From being a whole family to be just having your mother as an active parent was devastating as a 16-year-old.
The next rock bottom was right after college. I was broke, heartbroken from a 6-year long relationship, and jobless. I thought nothing was going to hurt me like my parent's separation, but I was wrong. As time move, the pain keeps getting worse.
Nothing was working out for me during those tough days. I had lost all hope. It felt like a nightmare that lasted for weeks which I wouldn’t wish for anyone to experience.
Despite the pain and turmoil, I had a spiritual breakthrough after every rock bottom. Perhaps it was the storm before the dawn, but it surely reinforced my faith in the supreme. In retrospect, I am grateful for the experience, but it makes me wonder about the relationship between pain and spirituality.
As a curious being and someone involved in spirituality, I spent a significant time understanding that relationship.
Today I’ll be sharing that with you in this post.
Spiritual Breakthroughs and Rockbottoms
Sadhus or monks spend years meditating to attain higher consciousness or have spiritual breakthroughs.
For a regular person like me, most spiritual breakthroughs happen when I am in a terribly low phase. You know why?
When time is not in your favor, and you lose every ounce of hope to bounce back and all the confidence in yourself to turn things around, you only have one way out. It is to believe in the higher power.
You know there’s nothing you can do about the situation.
You know only luck, a higher power, the universe, or God can save you. The pain strengthens your faith. It gives you hope when you're hopeless and shows you light when you’re in the darkness.
Eventually, when good things start to trickle down in your life, you see his presence in the goodness, you see his magic in your smile, and you see his blessings in your happiness and abundance.
When you get out of rock bottom, you start seeing the difference of how things were during those days to now. You feel blessed and feel grateful for the chance you’ve given.
“I think this is what we all want to hear: that we are not alone in hitting the bottom, and that it is possible to come out of that place courageous, beautiful, and strong.” — Anna White
Identifying them needs gratitude and courtesy
Many people forget their poor state when things get back to normal. They either call it luck or get into the ego trap to get themselves out of the dark phase.
I wouldn’t be able to talk about self-love, publish my first book if it wasn’t for my parent’s separation.
The idea to work on my book while I was sulking was a breakthrough moment for me.
Receiving a job in my WhatsApp when I was broke and hopeless was a breakthrough moment for me.
Getting into my dream design college when I was studying engineering was a breakthrough moment for me.
If you forget your pain and how miraculously you got out of those miserable times, then you’ll never be able to place a spiritual breakthrough. It requires a heart of gratitude and a vivid observation to notice the change.
We all have these experience which looks unbelievable, yet they’re true, and that’s why we’re here :)
“When you feel like you have been hit, dig deep and hit back. Rock bottom is not your end; it is your beginning.” — Christine Evangelou
