Wherever I Go I See Majestic Elephants

One year since I became an editor of Dancing Elephants Press

1. The Royal Elephant Photo by the author- Preeti Singh.

In August 2022, Dr. Gabriella Korosi on ‘Friendship Day’ invited me to be an editor on her publication Dancing Elephants Press.

I was wondering what I would be my role at the publication because there were amazing editors already Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles and Sharing Randomly working with Dr. Gabriella Korosi. They were all very efficient.

I was a writer there and wrote many stories that got published quickly.

Dr. Gabriella Korosi told me that I could work at my pace and I would soon know my role.

I thought about it and since I am fascinated with elephants, I agreed.

Four photos of elephants.

Title Photo 1

I love elephants and in India we have special motifs of elephants. They are like symbols on clothes, curios, artifacts, tourist attractive key chains, fridge magnets, ladies handbags, sling bags for carrying groceries and they are in bright colors.

The above elephant does not look like a real elephant but it is the way the Rajasthan artists make artifacts especially for tourists.

I went to a fair showing handicrafts of rural folks and was attracted to this toy. A lot of people gathered in the stall. This was their special exhibit which showed the royal kings elephant. The caption was ‘The Royal Elephant’.

I walked into a friends house and she showed me her new acquisition. It was this beautiful carved elephant table that was caring a flower vase on it. I was attracted to the carving but I exclaimed! “oh The Elephant With The Burden.”

She liked the name and told me that elephants carry much more weight. Here the elephant poor thing has been spared.

Another elephant that I liked and instantly took a photo was a carved elephant with the tusk looking so realistic. I loved this elephant. The carving was exquisite.

The elephant in the garden

The elephant in the garden was very welcoming. This elephant was in marble and pure white.

I took permission to take a picture and told my host that I have been intrigued by elephants in different color and options in India.

Elephants in India are on fabrics, ladies clothes, t-shirts, and also jewellery like pendants, rings, clips, bengles, and ear rings. However, I decided to choose the elephants in artifacts.

My life at Dancing Elephants has been a lot of fun and activity. I wanted to share with you the activities that we did during the year that kept us very busy.

I must say, wherever I go, I see elephants all around me.
