Where Will Reading Be One Year From Now

Reading is what we all do every day. If it is a book, a document, or your cabinets-to-install-document, we have to read these. Now we have digital devices where we can read everything on.

One-click away and we opened that pdf.-file. This digital way of reading makes us reading fewer physical books. All these centuries reading physical books was a way to make us be busy. Also, it is good for us to read.

I can imagine how this digital world is taking space in our lives. Especially at this challenging time, we are in at the moment. More people will get into reading and catching up with their favorite writers. For a long time, we also have e-readers. This is a digital flat small device you can read your books on. A lot of people have one of those at home or anything like that. They have a few books at home.

I prefer to have a physical book at home I can touch and feel it. I also get the feeling a lot of people don’t read that much anymore, at least not from physical books. Only from books, they have on the e-reader.

I was thinking: “Are we still reading physical books one year from now?” I am not sure. Especially now as we all have to work from home. I believe people will rethink their reading habits and attitude. The way they read their books.

I’m talking further about reading physical books. There will be a moment in the next hundred years when we won’t write physical books anymore, but only digital e-books. I believe we also won’t read physical books anymore and just only read digital e-books.

How does it look next year — April 2021?

To be honest, you will never know what happens in the reading industry, but we can encourage each other to stay reading physical books. They might be more expensive, but I also believe we should support the writer. They have to feed their children, pay the rent and so on. An online book cost less than a physical book.

I think that we are all going to read more on our devices, such as an e-reader or iPad to read books. I believe next year we will still read physical books, but more e-books come along to read. As we all go digital more and more.

I prefer to have a physical book in my hands. Just holding it, turn the page one by one, holding the page before turning the page around. I love that. My mind also said that I have something amazing and also intellectual. You’re on your devices all the time, why being on your e-reading or iPad to read your book?

So, I think within one year there will be still physical books, but after this intense time, digital books will be sold more.
