Why Children Need Story Time
Reading to children is fun to do, at least I think it is fun to do, and toddlers are having fun to be read to. They love it when someone is reading to them. Widen their eyes when the crocodile is surprised to be loved that he decides not to eat that bunny. Whatever the story tells.
As a child, I loved to be read by my parents, and sometimes my sisters read my stories too. Stories made up of stories from books. I couldn’t wait to hear another story and how the story ends.
Benefits of reading toddlers stories
Reading stories to your children have so many benefits. In the first place, it is just learning to listen, second of all, when your children hear stories, they will learn new words and third of all, they will talk better and could conversate better.
When you learned to listen, you will become more compassionate and know how to be more empathic. You know how to solve issues and how to help yourself doing something when there is nothing to do.
When they learn new words, your children will express themselves in a better way what they need and what they want. They love having a conversation of issues or just what they heard or reading.
When children know more words, they talk better to express themselves and let people know their needs or solve other exercises at school. They are also better in communication with their friends.
Telling stories by heart
Sometimes I tell stories by heart, from my thumb. My children love it when they hear stories I just made up. It could be from situations happened that day, but also a fantasy story. I love telling them and they love hearing it from me.
This way, children see that parents not always just read the books, but also use their minds to make up some stories by heart. Nd I love to do that as well. I also let them participate in that story. When I make up something, then it is their turn and then mine again — and so on. This is a way to let their fantasy be wild and using their brain.
