Where can we find inspiration for our writing?
Five tips for any writers to find their inspiration
Are you aware that at least 12,000 thoughts go through your head daily? Often writers have difficulty finding one topic to write about because they don’t feel inspired to write on a particular subject. Let me share my thoughts.
1. Write about any subject you feel connected with
For myself, I like to write about something that I have a feel for. For example, this topic of inspiration for writing came to my mind yesterday, but I had already completed another article. Hence, I wrote down the topic quickly on a piece of paper.
Getting inspiration to write may not be difficult if you record the thoughts that come to your mind. In a day, you will read many news articles and listen to many conversations.
Record it down when something strikes a chord in your heart whenever and wherever you are. Think of fine-tuning the title later, but the idea is not to let the thought go away.
When you feel emotionally connected to the subject, you can write freely to share your thoughts.
2. Write on a subject you want to share your opinions
At other times, a topic may cross your mind. For example:
- Is tuition necessary for children?
- Are sports helpful for every student?
- Are we losing all our jobs if AI takes over?
- Is money the only motivation to work?
- Is getting married a goal for everybody?
You can see that such questions create an opportunity to share opinions. If you have an idea on any subject, you can record it down, then consider writing to share your personal views.
3. Write on a subject where you can share your knowledge
Professionally, all of us come from various jobs and backgrounds. You may think that others know much about your work, but I do not think so. Let’s look at the following topics:
- My fear as a retail assistant
- My frustration as a social worker
- My challenge as a student
- My punctuality as a bus driver
- My difficulty trying to be a good parent
You will have something to write if you can elaborate and expand on your thoughts.
4. Write on a subject where you encountered success or failure
Most people will identify with your stories if you care to share them. Of course, if you are uncomfortable talking about it, don’t do it. But if you ever do, you show the authentic side of yourself, and others may be encouraged by you.
You add value to others’ lives and experiences. Hopefully, it will result in something positive.
Examples of such topics:
- Why do I contemplate suicide when my business fails?
- How do I pull myself together when our relationship ends?
- Why do I always get rejected in job interviews?
- How did I start my career with a large study loan?
- Why am I passionate about helping the poor?
5. Write about an experience that impressed or changed us
I’m sure we all have unique experiences in life. In one of my previous articles, I wrote about being impressed by a friend’s house that was extraordinarily neat. I will place the link here if you wish to read it later.
In school, teachers do influence our lives and values. Perhaps you can write about a teacher who has added much value to your life. Maybe you would not be where you are today if this teacher had not helped you.
Similar topics could be:
- My former schoolteacher changed my views about science
- My experience working in a warehouse
- My past job as a police officer
- My previous company’s merger changed my destiny
- My childhood friend has finally gotten married
Have you been inspired already? Remember that many thoughts go through our minds daily, and you can write about them to add value to somebody’s life. That’s what writing is all about.
Your writing can change the world if enough people read about it.
