When The Universe Signals, I See Light

Moving on to new innings

Dear Writers and Readers of Reciprocal,

Greetings to you all! 🙏

First of all, I must thank Sahil Patel for introducing me as editor to those who follow Reciprocal.

The universe protects me from things, not for me or is no longer necessary for me.

I receive a signal of new beginnings and I see light. This is how I was inspired to join Reciprocal.

I am not new to Medium. I joined in September 2020 and will soon be completing two years on the platform.

I have known Sahil from the time he is on Medium. He used to write poems in Illumination and challenge everyone. For some reason, I was always tagged. He challenged me and I had to write a poem.

I do not know how Sahil found me or why he was interested in challenging me.

I was an editor with Illumination and he was a poet at first. Then he started writing posts in Illumination and Synergy. He calls himself an introvert but he had the guts to challenge people and everyone followed him.

With time, there became an easy flow of conversation between us. I used to publish his articles in Illumination and its sister publication Synergy.

Sahil Patel had ideas but he was shy and not at all into engaging with other writers and reading articles.

I feel sorry that many times I might have been hard with him but to my surprise, he always took my suggestions well and he started reading and interacting. I must praise him that whatever I suggested he would take to heart and I slowly found him changing.

Somewhere in his stride, his kind side began to shine and he wanted to help struggling writers like himself from lessons that he learned when he was a newbie.

I must say he always appreciated the fact that I had helped him when he was a new writer. I certainly did a lot of hands holding for many people but Sahil Patel always acknowledged my help and this is another reason to stand by his side.

He surprised us all by opening a publication and reaching out to people. When he started his poetry publication also he asked me to join him but I did not join because I knew that I could not do justice.

Again with Reciprocal, he asked me but I had become very busy editing in other publications.

I promised Sahil that when I am a little free he would be my first choice to join a publication.

The signal of the universe

I have never planned my career. Although I have always organized my day and planned my activities, my career has been built with signs of the universe.

When I first retired from Delhi University, the universe sent me a signal and I saw light by joining another institution where I worked for seven years. The work was hard but also very enjoyable. I enjoyed it a lot.

When it ended, I had found visiting professorships and writing on Medium where I went on from Illumination to Dreams and Stories and then to Coffee Times.

Coffee Times closed down and the universe shone a light that showed that the spirit of uplifting writer friends on the platform could be done through Reciprocal where young Sahil Patel was already ready to promote people and this inspires me .

Here I am. I would like to thank all my well-wishers and the writers of Reciprocal. We will try to uplift writers and try to maintain their wonderful spirit.

I would also like to join Sahil and welcome my friend Yana Bostongirl as an editor of Reciprocal. I have known Yana since the time she joined Medium. We have also worked together as editors and now we will get a chance to work together again.

Since the spirit of Reciprocal is to honor its writers to try and uplift them, I will mention two articles that I read today:

Mark Armstrong: He is an amazing writer. He is an illustrator who specializes in content marketing. I found his illustrations amazing and his simplicity in explaining his point of view. In this article, he writes about trust issues and how to rebuild them.

Pam Winter: My friend Pam says that her mother was of the opinion that the unfinished side of a quilt is more beautiful than the right side because it reflects our souls inside our bodies. Read how she explains the analogy of our souls.

Before I close, I would like to share an article that I wrote about Sahil Patel to show you how I know him on the platform.
