A Poet Who Has Made A Difference By Inspiring And Throwing Challenges

The start of Sahil Patel’s journey on Medium

Sahil Patel is a very down-to-earth and humble person. He is known for inspiring people through his prompts and challenges.

He wrote his first post when he joined Medium in Illumination. Then he wrote many poems and posts in illumination and in Synergy.

I joined Medium at the end of September 2020. I did not know Sahil, but he started tagging me. He had an incomplete profile with no photo on it.

He would prompt us to write poems but he never ever commented or clapped on them. However, he kept on tagging people to write poems.

Then he started giving a few claps.

When all this was happening, I became an editor of Illumination Integrated Publications.

Now we were on the other side of the table. I was an editor and he was a writer for the publication.

What I did not know then was that he was shy and an introvert but willing to learn. Every time he wrote a post in the publications everyone had complaints that his English was poor and needed a lot of editing.

I used to correct his post and publish it. Then one day I had the courage to send him a private note. Sahil, download Grammarly it is free and your errors will reduce. Sahil obediently did so.

This is a great quality in him. He thinks of self-improvement always.

He was very willing to learn and then I saw that his work had improved. So I did the next thing by pulling him up on interaction with others. To my surprise, I started seeing comments coming into my posts. Then I said Sahil people are giving you 50 claps. You write beautiful poetry so you must reciprocate. I started seeing the difference.

Then I sent him a message that he needed to insert his photo on his Medium profile which he did quite immediately.

Our queen of poems and hearts Josh Balerite Acol wrote the most beautiful forms of poems and sent lovely heart Emojis flitting around. Dr. Fatima Imam with her style and heart also wrote several poems at his request. Bhavna Narula and A Rustic Mind (Manali Desai) were also amongst the first group of people that he tagged for writing poems.

Josh, Fatima, Bhavna, and Manali soon became friends with Sahil and started appreciating each other's poems.

Sahil being Sahil continued by challenging and tagging us all and we kept writing as though we were obeying him.

Sahil is very impressive and talented. He became so good at reciprocation that he had a large number of new friends that kept on increasing.

I must say that Sahil has never forgotten me. This is the quality I liked in him. He is not afraid to learn and he gives full credit to people from whom he learns and takes other people along with him. People forget but not Sahil. I appreciate this great quality in him. These are the makings of a great person.

Sahil is now a great leader. He is a top writer in poetry and inspiration. He has three publications.
