PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
When the Birds Are Singing in the Twilight Hours
Week 164 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
It feels like we're having a golden October, just that it's not even October yet. The birds are singing in the early morning hours when the dew is hanging on the grass, and the sun is setting in the evening with a burst of colors.
It was a week full of ups and downs.
- The sun was going up and down.
- The moon was going up and down.
- I was getting up in the morning and lying down in the evening.
- Birds were taking off and landing back down again.
- The plane was going up and down all day long.
With it being later in the year, I now get a chance to wake up with the rising sun or even before that. Seeing the first rays of sunshine makes me smile before starting the day.

It was raining a little on Friday and I decided to head out with my camera wrapped in a plastic bag. The birds didn’t mind the rain and were chirping in the trees above my head.
One particular pine tree was popular among a group of blue tits. I watched them take off and land on a different branch again.

During this walk, I spotted two deer. The first one was too quick for me and I only got a glimpse of its fur in the forest. The second one appeared in a field of winter barley. I knew it was heading for the forest and waited for it to come out of the field, but I was too slow on the shutter. These deer might be here in abundance, but they are shy nevertheless.

The next morning, I woke again to the rising sun as a bank of mist and clouds was moving in.

And on Sunday, I was up even before the sun appeared on the horizon as I had to start work soon. Not a single cloud was in the sky and only some haze was hovering above the horizon.

Monday was a lovely day to relax. I got some stuff done and went for a walk just before the sun was setting. Listening to birds chirping in the trees, I spotted this blue tit and a wood warbler just one tree further.

I saw a couple of birds of prey sitting in the trees, and one got startled by my steps taking off. My mom said he looks like an eagle, but it’s probably a common buzzard. We don’t have eagles where I live. At least, not that I know of.

The sun was nearing the horizon as a faint layer of clouds appeared in the west. The sky burst into a myriad of colors. It was spectacular. I just stood there at the edge of the forest and looked across the farmlands where the show was happening.

On Tuesday, I captured the rising moon just as the sun was setting behind the woods.

On Wednesday, the temperatures were low as we had a clear night and woke to some haze in the distance and morning dew on the meadow.

I grabbed my camera to capture some of these sparkling drops shining in the morning light.
