What the Stream of Water Taught Me
Read this to find out what a stream of water and some stones have to say

I dipped my feet into the stream that was washing over the rocks.
On a hot day, it was glorious to feel the cool water in between my toes.
Putting my feet to rest on the wet rocks, I noticed how smooth they felt.
For a while, I immersed in the soothing burble of the stream.
It lured me into a quiet stream of consciousness.
Until the sound of a water splash brought me back to the waking world.
“What is the message you have for me?” I asked the stream.
The stream gushed back with the reminder, 水滴石穿 (shui di shi chuan).
I nodded my head in understanding.
The proverb’s literal Chinese to English translation: the constant dripping of water wears away the stone.
The Message from the Stream of Water

It’s been a challenging week. I was there by the small stream, taking a break from work. Yet, I didn’t have to look very far for answers.
The answers are all around. They are amid nature. In the stream. And in every tiny droplet.
I felt rejuvenated. Also, I took home the meaning of the proverb 水滴石穿 that day…
To attain a difficult goal, we need to persevere.
So if we are to hit obstacles, we don’t give up. The obstacles are like stones in our way. We keep at it until we are able to eventually flow through — like water. Uninterrupted and with ease.
