What I Learned by Publishing 7 Stories and 12 Poems at Medium in a Month?
In September, I took a different ride. I start writing different stories to analyze the audience and reader’s interest — as a reader’s interest is the most important thing for a writer. It makes sure that you are working properly.
The essential thing about medium is — it pays you according to the read ratio. So, a writer should focus on audience interest to get more reads. The read ratio depends upon the loyal readers.
Now, how to make loyal readers? I recommend — write a thought-provoking story. Write about something from personal experience, because only this thing creates a difference. Next, support each other by visiting and reading each other’s stories. Then try different niches. It brings variety to your stories and helps you to analyze your stories.
In September, I published 7 stories and 12 poems. All went well, but some did an extraordinary job.
Stories:
The list includes my 2 journey stories — one is about a Medium journey (50 Days of the Journey at Medium), and the other is freelance work (A Story Behind the Choice of Freelance Work). Both are written from a personal point of view — but the 50 Days of the Journey at Medium did well.
I think that people are interested in medium stuff, so, I quickly wrote another medium-related story — Can a Medium Writer Get Success without Curation? From this story, I learned that readers are more interested in the Medium-related journey as compared to the others. You should try to write about the different journeys and analyze what has gone well.
Next, I wrote about life, society, and cultural issues. The story A Shout-out for Equal Rights — US Politician Carolyn Maloney went well externally — which means it gets more external views as compared to the internal view.
I tried to write about another societal ongoing issue as Why Do People Fail to Manage between Friendship and Love Relationship? It again went well externally. From these, I learned that my readers are least interested in such topics so, I stop writing about these things.
I wrote another story about culture and society. It is different from the previous one because this story is written in a fictional piece, named Why Is She Constantly Thought to Be Filthy and Disgusting? It did a great job for me. Furthermore, it is my highest-earning story so far. I learn that if a writer wants to discuss culture and social issues, then write it in a fictional way as compared to write directly on an issue.
My story about personal development remains at a 50/50 level. It got fewer views but more reads. If you want to develop yourself then you can read Self-Mentoring Is Essential for Growth.
Poems:
Then, come poems. In September, I wrote 12 poems, including Haiku.
Haiku is a short form so, it does not work for a longer period. It includes the collection of emotions concisely. My September Haiku includes Life and Shells, Never-Ending World, and Deep Life. From this Deep life went well. It is because this story contains 3 haiku’s under one heading. So, I learned that if you want to get a fairly enough read ratio from Haiku, then try to write more than one Haiku in a story.
My first September poem was September Is Here!. It is written for a welcoming purpose. In this poem, I welcome new thoughts and changing.
September is a great month of learning. I learn about the Fibonacci poem so, I tried to write it. You can read Fibonacci Poem. I will be happy, if you try to write a Fib poem.
Next, I wrote a poem for a publication, which invites writers to write according to their weekly contest. I did the same and wrote Listen to Me — Universe (part 1), and The Universe Is Listening (part 2). The publication editors did not publish the poems, so I submitted them to a renowned publication — Illumination. My poems did a fair job for me. I learn that rejection from one publication could not stop you from moving forward. You can try another one, or do a self-publication.
Then comes the inspirational poems. These are long poems with beautiful messages. It includes Become a Warrior of Life, and You are a Precious Gem. Both of the poems did an excellent job. I learn that readers seem interested in motivational thoughts. These poems contain a motivation that I get from inside my heart. I always try to push myself with motivational thoughts and a positive mindset. This positive thinking brings new thoughts which emerge as inspirational poems.
A writer mostly takes help from a past life, and experiences to create amazing thoughts. Similarly, I revised my memories and create the Childhood Friends poem. This poem is a nostalgic one as it reminds me of my childhood days and friends.
Everyone dreams, which are collections of memories. These memories create hallucinations of pleasure, so here is a touching poem Spiritual Meeting with a Loved One. This poem makes a possible meeting with a loved one. It is not an ordinary meeting, but a spiritual one.
Lastly, my creative poem. Who Am I? It is the best poem of mine. It is written for Sahil Patel’s lifeline poetry contest. Furthermore, it contains immediate thoughts about myself.
First, I was thinking that — can I write about myself? Then I tried to write — while writing this poem, the thoughts came into my mind like flowing water. I just put them together. My purpose was to write a poem uniquely so, I write about myself naturally. Guess what happened. My poem got amazing responses. It was too competitive that the owner of the publication stuck to the decision, and called two winners. One is me. I am so happy that I compete with someone. It is a winning moment of self. You can read this creative poem. Who Am I?
From these poems, I learned that the original thoughts, do proper work. All you have to do is to put a great message in the poem.
The purpose of analyzing the September stories is to learn and share the medium experience with you so, that you can learn something.

I failed to put daily stories in September, but what I have written went so well. The 7 stories and 12 poems did well for me in the September. I call it — a great month of learning. I experienced different things. Not only that, but I call myself a crawling child of medium and will walk in the coming days at medium.
Thank You for reading.
