Summary

The web content introduces the concept of a Fibonacci Poem, a poetic form that follows the Fibonacci sequence in the number of syllables per line, and provides an example along with the history and a call to action for readers to explore more poetry.

Abstract

The website presents a unique form of poetry known as the "Fib" Poem, which adheres to the mathematical Fibonacci sequence (1/1/2/3/5/13) in its structure, with each number representing the syllable count for successive lines. This form of poetry is likened to a Haiku but incorporates the Fibonacci sequence, a series where each number is the sum of the two preceding ones. The article references John Fredrick Nims, who introduced this format in 1974, and credits the poem "Western Wind" as a pioneering example. An illustrative poem by Arbab Z. is shared, offering readers a tangible understanding of the form. Additionally, the article mentions Krystal Mossbarger's "Passion’s Extremes" as another source where readers might have encountered a Fib poem. The author encourages readers to explore more of their poetry through a provided link to "My Poetry List" and invites subscriptions to an email list for updates on future content.

Fibonacci — is a poem of 1/1/2/3/5/13 sequence of the syllabus.

This type of poem is similar to Haiku but contains a Fibonacci Sequence.

Fibonacci sequence; is a sequence used in mathematics where the previous digits add up and create a new. For example:

1+1 =2, 1+2 =3, 2+3 =5 And so on.

For the Fibonacci poem, the 20 syllabi are divided into six lines to create a fib sequence.

John Fredrick Nims introduced this formal expression — in 1974 — in his writing Western Wind. Wikipedia

Here is an example of Fib poem written by Arbab Z.

One Two Three — Four Poem is no more I am standing at life shore, looking for the boat that takes me offshore before anymore.

I came across this poem for the first from “Passion’s Extremes” written by Krystal Mossbarger.
