Are you an ambitious online writer, trying to hedge your bets and take advantage of multiple online earning resources?

Even if you’re only writing stories on Medium and striving to become a “top writer”, you’ve probably noticed all the stories about different writing platforms and opportunities to earn more as a writer.

I notice that some of the recent Medium stories have shared news about online earning resources.

While I haven’t read or checked out a lot of the writing and earning opportunities myself, I still like how my fellow writers let us know they exist.

In fact, the latest story I wrote and published myself, also discussed a website that offers a great way to earn money with your writing.

As I mentioned in: Here’s Another Great Way to Start Earning Money with Your Stories! — this particular earning opportunity enables you to earn additional money from some of the stories you’ve already written and published.

Yep! That means you can start combing through some of those previously published Medium stories, and consider giving them a new breath of life.

Test the waters before jumping in

When it comes to the numerous sites, resources, and opportunities to earn money online with your writing, I’ve found that it is sometimes best to test the waters before jumping all the way in.

Instead of making the mistake of migrating scores of my previously published stories to another website, I plan to take things a bit slow.

In the past, I allowed myself to jump on the News Break band wagon, the Vocal Media band wagon, and I even wasted some precious time with Quora.

None of these sites ever amounted to any real benefit to me in the long run, in spite of my early excitement and high hopes regarding each one (as evident by my former stories).

The above stories were written during the “honeymoon” phase, but I later came to different conclusions about each of those sites.

Ultimately, I made the decision to stop wasting my time there, but only after I had already wasted precious time and exerted effort in vain.

I don’t plan to make the same mistake again.

My status report on what to expect from “Marker”

I plan to ease into things this time, so now that I’ve provided a road map to the Marker website, other writers can visit the site and decide if it’s worth their attention.

NOTE: Any writers interested in submitting their content should do their due diligence and read all the details about how Marker handles and distributes content.

In the meantime, I’ll be glad to share updates about my progress (or lack of progress), for as long as I’m there.

When I published the first story, I was still awaiting the results of my “test” article review. In order to join and start contributing your stories, you first have to submit a 300-word maximum sample of your writing.

Easy peasy!

The results:

I completed the brief profile, provided my PayPal information (for receiving payments), and sent them a short submission on Monday — 8/29, early afternoon.

On Tuesday morning, I discovered the following notification in my email:

Yay me!

Now, the only thing I need to do is start tweaking and uploading the previously published stories that I’ve already selected.

I’m only starting with 15 or 20 previously published stories, chosen from the hundreds available in my current catalogue. I’ll upload them to the site, and wait to see how well they do.

A little tweaking (minor editing) might be necessary for stories that refer to “Medium”. Also no stories that include self promotion are allowed on Marker, so they need to be revised accordingly.

And don’t overlook the fact that you can also write and submit completely new stories, prepared especially to solicit to their buyers in the website’s marketplace.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Since originally posting this story, I’ve discovered that only “original” content is accepted, which may require you to consider removing previously published stories. Learn More.

Final Thoughts

Are you tired of working double time at Medium, trying to be a social butterfly and build tons of followers, all in pursuit of becoming a top writer?

If your answer is yes, then consider checking out the details about how to get paid on Marker with the stories you sell.

I don’t know if this website is really going to be as great as it seems, when it comes to earning money with previously published stories, but I sure aim to find out.
