My Bright Idea How to Promote Medium Writers Who Use QUORA
Would you like to gain extra exposure for your Medium stories?

A few months ago, I wrote a story about the Quora website, and how I had the opportunity to post various questions and earn a little money, when people respond with the answers.
At the time, I was super excited, because I saw the chance to possibly:
- Earn some additional cash
- Expand my Medium profile and reach
- Help promote other writers and their Medium stories
I laid everything out and tried to show other writers who have Quora accounts, exactly how this would work.
At Quora, I use my former pen name and profile as Charm Baker, which is the account where my more than 500 Quora questions are currently posted.
Here’s what I wrote and summed up for Medium writers:
* I’ll ask questions and earn revenue for posing them, once readers (them) begin to engage and provide answers.
* I’ll select Medium writers who regularly answer the types of questions I’m asking, thus giving them a chance to potentially generate revenue from Quora answers, and maybe from more story views.
* Since this is precisely what Quora suggested I do by asking questions; they’re pleased because they earn income from the advertisers.
In spite of this attractive offer, my Quora story got very little results. The story ended up with under 100 views and only earned a couple of bucks, but what’s even worst; only one writer bothered to respond, although it was a favorable one (thank you Pene Hodge).
Being the person that I am, I rarely allow time for moss to grow under my feet, so I shrugged my shoulders and moved on to the next big bright idea.
However, I did something else that is also true to form for me. I put the initial idea on a back burner; knowing I’d get back to it some day.
Well, today is that day…
Promoting my stories and other Medium writers is always my goal
My main objective is to continue promoting my stories, as well as the stories of other Medium writers. That’s why I’m always alert to creative ideas and imaginative ways to do this.
That brings me back to Quora. After reading a story by Medium writer Tim Dahi; his words about Quora managed to rekindle a spark in me, and caused me to implement my new — old idea.
Here it is:
I improved on my idea, which was initially, to think of random questions in various categories, and punt them to specific Medium writers on Quora.
Now, instead, I plan to have all interested Medium writers let me know they want to participate, by leaving me their Quora name, AND the Medium story title they want to promote.
This way, I can post a question that I create, specifically based on one of the stories of the writer who’ll be answering the question.
Notice this example:
Naturally, I selected Pene to be my test subject (thanks again Pene). I glanced at the story she wrote about circumcision, and formed a Quora question that this story appears to answer.
NOTE: I purposely didn’t read the story yet, because I feel a bit guilty posting questions I know the answer to already, ALTHOUGH, the Quora guidelines didn’t say anything about only posting questions you don’t know the answer to.
So after deciding on the story, and grabbing a key phrase from a portion of the story, this is what I did:
- I went to Quora and posted the question
- I selected Pene’s name as one of the 25 people I get to designate to answer the question
I’m hoping that this will give her the opportunity to Answer the question, and provide her Medium story link as a source for her response.
The really cool thing is, over time:
- Pene may earn a few cents for her answer, plus get more eyes on her story
- I might earn a few cents for posting the question, plus get more eyes on me
Like I said; I see this as a WIN WIN situation, so if you’re interested, why not give it a try?
How to participate and help promote your stories
If you’d like to participate in this chance to promote your stories, just leave a RESPONSE in the comment section, and:
- Provide your Quora profile username (and/or link)
- Provide the title of your Medium story you want to promote
That’s all to it! Even though I no longer read and respond to comments left on my own stories, I’ll be making an exception for this Quora related story.
FYI: If any writers want to promote MULTIPLE stories and are serious about doing this on a regular basis, please feel free to reach out to me via email, and let me know what you have in mind. That way the comments won’t get bogged down by one person. Thanks
Final Thoughts
Anyone who follows me and reads my stories on a regular basis, knows that I’m always coming up with some new idea about self promotion, or about promoting other writers.
When things appear to work out like planned, I stick to the program, and continue using what seems to be effective. On other occasions, when things seem to fall flat, I simply move on, just like I did when I first got this idea.
But good ideas are hard to let go of, and sometimes, things simply come down to an issue of timing.
I believe 2022 is the right time to implement this Quora idea, and I plan to stick with it a little longer and see how things pan out.
The goal is to monitor this page on a regular basis, and follow through on the responses, by posting meaningful questions for the writers to answer.
Hopefully, this latest activity will prove to be beneficial to anyone who wants to participate, as a way to help elevate our Medium profiles, and also increase our story views and earnings. JOIN ME.
