Camping Tips
What Every Mom Should Pack To Survive Camping With Kids
So you can survive, and possibly even enjoy, your camping trip

I’ve been camping with the kids for many years — in a tent. ⛺
In this story, I share my tips on some essential items to pack to survive a week in a tent.
#1. Coffee!
First and foremost the opportunity to make good coffee. (Or tea if that’s what you prefer.) I can’t bear to drink instant coffee. At the campsite, only the best coffee is good enough!☕
I bring a kettle or gas burner to boil water, pre-ground beans of high quality, a scale, an Aeropress, a tablespoon, and my best cup. Even if space is tight in the car, the coffee equipment is a priority.
#2. A comfortable chair
A comfortable chair is needed when enjoying my coffee. And at other times when I have the opportunity to relax. My kids rarely sit still and get by with a simple chair.
#3. Books
I always bring a few good books with me, and I hope for a lot of reading in my comfortable chair. 📚
I’m packing one non-fiction and two novels in different genres for my camping trips. I want to have choices. For instance, I don’t take a beautiful hardcover book to a beach or read non-fiction before sleeping.
My book recommendations:
- Non-fiction: Deep Work by Cal Newport
- Novel 1: Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover (Romance)
- Novel 2: Six of Crowes by Leigh Bardugo (Fantasy)
#4. Headset
Bring a headset, so you don’t miss your favorite podcast. Otherwise, headsets are useful for blocking out noise.
#5. Red wine
A glass of wine to relax in the evening is lovely. 🍷
Alcohol-free works fine.
#6. A good mattress
Facilitating good sleep is important. After several days in a tent, you need quality sleep to keep staying a sympathetic mother. 😴
These are my 6 tips for what every mother should pack for herself to survive a camping trip with the kids. Who knows, maybe it’s possible to enjoy a week in a tent? 😉
Have a great trip!
