POEM: GIVING YOURSELF
What Can I Do to Help You?
You can’t do it all alone. We should all be asking how we can help someone else.
When chills strike, I give you my embrace, holding you close till warmth awakens
When darkness falls, I give you my spirit as a nightlight till a new day dawns
When sorrow drags you down, I give you my hand to hold; together, we rise
When your silence needs its voice, I give you my ear to listen and listen some more
When hunger ravages you, I give you my food for as long as starvation follows you
When you lose your shelter, I give you my home for restoration and family
When you have lost your fight, I have your back, hop on mine, and I’ll carry you further
When you feel lost, I give you my sight to see all the paths laid before you
When you feel alone, I give you my heart to feel the beat of another beside you
When you feel unworthy, I give you my unconditional love with no expectations or judgment
When you forget your reasons to live, I give you ALL that I HAVE and ALL that I AM, so you may begin, again
Thank you for reading. The world is different now from when I grew up to my mid-life awakening, where I can see the destruction if we don’t help each other out of the tunnels and behind the walls we build in desperation.
