What bothers me as a writer and what I want to do about it, and “the More Beautiful Question”
I write because writing is to live

Because I love to write and I love to support others as much as I love to breathe, I was led to Medium in November 2018. I signed up as a paying member and for the Medium Partner Program. Along the way, I met Dr Mehmet Yildiz who read and clapped for many of my stories when he first joined Medium in 2019.
I really appreciate the support of the many who read and show their support of my writing on Medium!
When we have issues or concerns, I believe we should dig deep and get to the basic questions. Getting to the basic question is good for problem-solving.
The foundational question is the more beautiful question. Take for example, the question:
“Why did Mehmet Yildiz create the Illumination publication?”
The answer from Mehmet himself, is:
To curate and disseminate outstanding articles from diverse domains and disciplines to create fusion and synergy
The more beautiful or a deeper question, perhaps, is “Why did Mehmet want to create and disseminate amazing stories from a broad spectrum of writers, to unite and share diverse voices?
If I may answer for Mehmet, it is:
“Mehmet is full of life and intelligence and fervour to support the written word, and is gifted with his unique wish and ability to build a community of writers and readers”
This answer to my “more beautiful” question reveals the motivation for and the driving force behind Illumination. 😃
On the matter of my personal writing, here are my musings.
Question: As a writer, what are your major pain points and struggles?
Writing is “in my blood” so to speak. I love reading & writing as I like to breathe.
I would love to have more time to write and to build up my writing portfolio, and I would love to earn a regular guaranteed income of between $200 and $700 AUD net per week, from my writing.
Besides writing on Medium, I go in Challenges on the Vocal platform, and I review non-fiction books, and write technical guidelines, e.g. on working with Medium and on using WordPress or MeWe. I also run around 8 WordPress blogs!
As I have to pay off a mortgage and pay bills, I’m in a part-time mainstream job and with the voluntary work and other things that I do, there’s not the “time” for me to write as much as I would like to.
What I am going to do to meet my ambition is to focus on just one writing avenue…..ta dah….and that platform is Medium!
Question: As a writer, what are your desires and aspirations?
I would like to have more time to read every story on Medium, haha! Also if I could retire from mainstream work, I would spend hours every day reading and writing across the possibilities and the spectrum of platforms!
For example, I am currently writing a novel for teenagers, and I’m at the end now. It’s my dream that one day my fantasy story will be in print. My writing also includes the occasional short story and alliterative prose. When I was 15 years old I won a prize for a poem in the Young Writers Contest of Western Australia!
Probably many of us would love to see their writing promoted in Featured spots in Medium Publications or featured in an official Medium email to all subscribers. To see one’s name as a Featured Writer on a Topic Page would be great too.
Realistically, I aspire to build up a solid number of Followers who read many (if not all) of my Medium stories.
To achieve this I will continue to read as many stories on Medium as I can, write what people would like to read, and will keep learning and interacting with people on Medium and in supportive social media outlets.
Question: What are your great stories that did not receive the required level of attention from readers?
As I like to support others, on Medium I have written a range of stories from very personal stories (which served as self-therapy) to stories with broader appeal.
I genuinely like to share my lived experience and knowledge and technical skills to support and inspire people.
Many of the stories that I share on Medium would probably be categorized as “advice” or “self-help” articles.
While some readers don’t gravitate toward these types of stories, I feel that there are just as many (if not more) who are interested in genuine heartfelt and original “advice / self-help / reward” stories — from real-life people.
To that end, here are 4 stories written by me, that you may like to read.
More stories can be found in my pinned story on my Medium profile page (“About me, and some of my stories”).
And last, but not least, this question.
The Universe — — asks Celine — -
“Why do you write?” [ the answers could be “because I like writing” or “because I want to communicate ]
BUT, the more beautiful question is: “What does writing mean to you?”
AND my answer to this beautiful question is:
Writing is Living
I write because to write is to live. Words express one’s beliefs, thoughts, feelings, wishes, intentions, understanding, plans and much more….
