Let’s find out what are the best physical and online resources to learn Bitcoin, how it works and its ideologies
Let’s take a step back and for this article, we leave aside the rumours and news in the sector to focus on training. More and more people think too often on the price of Bitcoin without having adequate training in technical terms and underlying ideologies. The Bitcoin protocol is undoubtedly the most important invention after the Internet because, in addition to solving the structural problems of the modern economy,
it also creates a personal need, namely monetary freedom and the possibility of being your own bank.
On January 3, 2021, Bitcoin will turn exactly 12 years after its birth and after going through 3 halvings, different bear market phases, the 2008 crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, the time has come to understand what are the physical resources on to study and immerse yourself in the world of Satoshi Nakamoto. If at the beginning the books were immature and not very detailed, now there are resources written by illustrious people who describe the protocol from an objective point of view. 1. “The Bitcoin Standard”, Saifedean Ammous
Undoubtedly a must if you want to understand in what socio-economic context Bitcoin is positioned. The author is an Austrian and academic economist who has become famous for this book. The book starts with the analysis of the history of money, passing through the relationship between economy and society and the difference between easy money (fiat) vs hard money (gold, Bitcoin). It is not a technical book, the part relating to Bitcoin is just an outline and serves to outline the ecosystem in general without going into technical details that are not interesting for most people. 2. “The Internet of Money”, Andreas Antonopoulos
Another very important book if you are new to the number one cryptocurrency in the world. Written by one of the most important personalities in the sector, A. Antonopoulos is one of the few examples of computer philosophers who make disclosure their job. The internet of Money is a three-volume collection of the author’s lectures, in which the most diverse topics in the sector are treated. The book contextualizes the meaning of Bitcoin through a series of essays that cover the maturation of the digital currency over time. Book to read and reread a thousand times.
3. “Programming Bitcoin”, Jimmy Song
Fundamental book if you want to deepen the technical aspects surrounding cryptocurrency. Jimmy Song is a Bitcoin popularizer and developer. He wrote what for many is the technical book par excellence for understanding the mathematics and computer science underlying the protocol. In this book, you will find everything: from the concept of blocking to transactions, from payment verification to PoW, all in terms of theory and code. Regardless of whether you are a computer scientist or want to learn more about how Bitcoin works, this is your starting point.
4. “Digital Gold: Bitcoin and the inside story of the misfits and millionaires trying to reinvent money”, Nathaniel Popper
Another introductory reading to the world of Blockchain and Bitcoin that tells the story of cryptocurrency through the eyes of the most important characters of the movement. The chapters tell the historical period of the birth of Bitcoin and the development of the underlying community. The author is a technology and business reporter for the New York Times and outlines the most important individuals in the industry by describing the rise of the world’s number one cryptocurrency. If you are interested in the history of Bitcoin this is the book for you.
5. “Mastering Bitcoin”, Andreas Antonopoulos
The book par excellence if you want to have a 360-degree overview of the Bitcoin world and its functioning. It is undoubtedly a practical book that starts from the basics of the protocol to get to talk about the more advanced concepts such as SegWit, BIP and Scripting language. The audience to which it refers is purely technical, with previous knowledge of cryptography and programming, but anyone can try their hand at reading by dwelling on the most difficult points. Book not to be missed to fully understand the characteristics of the protocol that will revolutionize the concept of money.
