Welcome to the Thing a Day
A brief introduction to my publication.
When I was a young boy…
I’ve always had a love for writing. Even as a kid, I aspired to write an award-winning novel. I was an avid reader and was writing stories almost as soon as I could write. The fact that I became a writer for a living seemed almost fated.
So, my eventual entry into Medium was just another step in the process. I initially started writing here as a means of sharing my experiences with mental illness. It has since grown into this: the Thing a Day.
The Thing a Day, which is modeled on Jonathan Coulton’s “Thing a Week,” is exactly what it says on the tin: I publish one thing every day. It started as a writing experiment, the goal of writing something every day, no matter what it was. It has since made it past the one-month marker, which is impressive to me if nobody else.
In this little publication, you will find articles on a variety of topics. I write about everything from my own life and relationship to social justice issues to mental health to family recipes. There aren’t a lot of topics I won’t cover.
I tend to write in a personal narrative style and tell a lot of stories as they relate to my own experiences, although I have written more extensive, research-based pieces in the past. That said, I tend to find that many people get more value from personal stories, so I tend to focus on those.
I also have a bit of a snarky, dry sense of humor, and I like puns and wordplay, in case that wasn’t obvious from the first line of this article.
At any rate, please read whatever articles strike your fancy, and if you like enough of them, I encourage you to subscribe to this publication. You can also follow me on Facebook, where I post regularly. I haven’t gotten into the swing of Twitter yet, but I have one of those too if you’re so inclined.
Anyway, please read, subscribe, and enjoy!
If you liked this, please subscribe to my publication, Thing a Day. I publish something every day on a variety of topics, so you never know what you’re going to see!
