Hey all! So, Logan Silkwood and I have talked about creating this publication for a while.

Introducing ENBYOUS!

Like Envious, but we’re Enbies — get it? :D

When I created the Queerly Trans Publication, it was to fill a gap in knowledge and understanding that delayed my own discovery of self, because, “I learned was that gay people transitioned to become, ‘normal’ (straight)”.

“My egg finally cracked at 45 and now, here I am, having just started T, embracing my gay trans-masc enby ass…”

As I welcomed amazing writers to the Queerly Trans family, I found one of my Medium soulmates (I have a few now, lol), in Logan Silkwood. As the publication grew, his assistance became crucial, and inviting him to edit for QT was the best decision I made. Now, QT is not just me, it’s us. We build it together.

We chat, a lot, outside of Medium. We chat about how to make QT better. We chat about how to keep it directed and defined to serve the original purpose and to nurture any babytrans and cracking eggs. We discuss everything, defining problems, finding solutions, and building the guidelines so that as QT grows, it will settle into an easy flow. Oh yeah, and we chat about our lives, each of our journeys including therapy, and all my many, many, t-shirt design ideas (like the one below, which may have a little something, something, to do with this new publication).

** Please note — the above link is to my RedBubble shop and yes, if you buy anything, I make coin. Feel free to do that, haha. Cheers!

So yeah, we chat about a lot of… crap, BUT, we also chat about what’s missing. The other gaps in education, information, and sharing on Medium!

Logan Silkwood identified a gap within the gender non-conforming spectrum of sexuality and asexuality. Support Logan’s idea by reading his article below and letting him know what you would love to see evolve in such a publication.

Of course, the other gap we saw on Medium was for those that, like us, don’t exist as a permanent fixture on either end of the imposed gender binary. So…

WELCOME TO ENBYOUS!

This is a publication for those of us that don’t fit nice and neatly on either end of the gender spectrum and for our allies who want to learn and grow with us. We are gender non-conforming, non-binary, enbies, agender, genderqueer, bigender, gender fluid, gender apathetic, gender-expansive, gendervoid, omnigender, two-spirit, demigender, gender neutral… etc. We may use they/them pronouns or he/him, she/her, him/her, they/she, ze/hir…etc (never assume).

We may or may not define ourselves as transgender, but we definitely aren’t men OR women. We are both, neither, sometimes one, sometimes the other, and everything in between and outside of the gender binary confines. We are masculine, we are feminine, we are androgynous, and how we appear in anyone else’s perception does not define our gender.

** Please note, for ease, we will use the term enby as an all-encompassing term but it is by no means used to erase or ignore your personal situation. In fact, we’d love to publish your story about your unique gender identity and perspective!

Our Vision for Enbyous

We’d like to keep Enbyous relaxed and open without too many rules or guidelines outside of Medium’s. For now (because this is the early design model which will develop as the publication does), we will offer four categories.

My Enby Life: Enbies, share your personal experiences, journey, growth, and stories.

Fiction: OMG, we are so excited to offer a home for fiction written by our enby family. The real transgender experience is drastically under-represented in media, and for enbies, even more so. We encourage our writers to bring their gender-non-conforming characters and fiction to Enbyous. Short stories, book chapters, poems, we want them all.

Enbydexterous: Information and education (including scholarly type articles if that’s your jam) for other enbies and those questioning. Share insights on genderfuckery, pronouns, HRT, gender-affirming tips, etc.

(A)Gender for Allies: Information and education (including researched articles) for our allies. Share your suggestions and encouragement around using pronouns, dos and do nots, supporting your enby friend, etc.

Follow Us and Join Enbyous

Make sure you follow us for updates and to get notifications when we publish anything.

Write for Us:

If you are an enby (or are not on either end of the gender binary), and you’d like to apply to write for us, it’s easy — read the guidelines below and then, let us know in the comments you’d like to be an Enbyous writer. Unless we already work with you on Queerly Trans, you MUST include your username (the one that starts with @) as it makes it easier for us to add you.

Writers Guidelines:

For accepted writers (look for a reply to your comment to confirm).

WELCOME TO THE TEAM!!!

Please follow our basic Enbyous Writer’s Guidelines:

  • Only posts that adhere to Medium’s Guidelines CAN be accepted
  • Approved posts submitted BEFORE Monday midnight (in your timezone) will be scheduled to be published from Wednesday through to the following Tuesday. Submissions after midnight will be considered the following week. This handy Chrome extension will tell you if and when your post is scheduled:
  • We reserve the right to refuse any submission based on quality or content; however, we will be clear as to why and offer you a chance to resubmit. Check your private notes IN your submission (DO NOT dismiss private notes).

Writing Categories:

  • My Enby Life: This is for stories about your personal experiences, journey, growth, and stories. USE TAG ‘Nonbinary’
  • Fiction: This is for your fiction! We encourage gender-non-conforming characters in short stories, book chapters, poems, etc. USE TAG ‘Fiction’
  • Endydexterous: This is for information and education for other enbies and those questioning. Share insights on genderfuckery, pronouns, HRT, gender-affirming tip, etc. USE TAG ‘Gender’

PLEASE NOTE: Medium does not allow duplicate content so your new article must be significantly different.
