We Need to Think Twice About Some of Our Behaviors

Social psychology has a dark side as well as a bright side in my life

This article represents a departure for me. I am writing this for me alone. If you gain something from it or are amused or entertained, that also works for me.

We all have behaviors that help define us to others. I am happy to represent some, i.e., I am known as a more than adequate Cuddler. I know that regular cuddling influences our overall well-being in several ways.

Cuddling releases oxytocin, “the love hormone.” You can foster a sense of calm and security by cuddling regularly. This sensation will boost the immune system and act as a natural pain reliever. Cuddling is a powerful yet simple way to nurture solid relationships and promote our health.

How do you deal with angry people? When anger first appears, it is imperative not to react. Don’t roll your eyes; don’t huff and puff. Don’t react at all. Observe the angry one and try to understand why. If the anger becomes unreasonable, it is best to walk away.

If you decide to stay, remain calm and listen actively to the angry person. Acknowledge their feelings and don’t take it personally. Don’t use “you” statements. Do not reproach or criticize them. Apologize only if you are actually at fault. Give them space and seek to resolve the issue.

Each situation is unique, so use your judgment for the best approach. Use your experience in observation and understanding to find the best way through it.

Couples who laugh together every day will have a stronger relationship. Try to laugh for at least 10 minutes daily. Laughing together daily in a relationship has numerous advantages, contributing to the health of the individuals involved and the strength of their bond.

Their communication is better, and the house has less stress and tension. The couple trusts each other, and their resilience is strengthened over time. People who laugh every day are more attractive and are generally happier.

Laughter leads to the creation of positive memories and stronger relationships. Laughter also facilitates conflict resolution within the relationship.

You should only speak when your words are more beautiful than silence. I love that sentence, even with its impracticality. However, it does highlight the inherent value of silence. Silence is also a powerful form of communication, allowing for contemplation and understanding.

We need to be mindful in our communication. Be aware of the impact of our words on others. Words can harm or heal. Speak only when your words are beneficial.

Let’s not forget the element of self-control at work here. When we extend our self-discipline to cover our words, we begin by thinking before we speak. This is a most valuable life skill to have in our quiver.

Do not chase people. Work hard and be yourself. The right people will find their way in your life by these two principles. I can only emphasize the importance of self-reliance and authenticity in personal and professional relationships.

You do not need attention or approval in your life. You are the best version of you possible and you are still improving. Your authenticity is absolute, and your relationships are more genuine and fulfilling.

When we are true to our values and principles, we are more likely to connect with an audience or community that appreciates and supports our authentic expression. Like-minded people will find us.

Creative individuals have a different relationship with mental health through their creative outlet, art, photography, writing, or other pursuits. My creative expression is therapeutic and provides a sense of release, which helps me manage my feelings.

When involved in creative activities, we can be in the ‘flow,’ a profoundly immersive, satisfying state of concentration. This state has positive effects on our mood and psychological well-being.

We are often thought to be more empathetic. This allows us to connect more deeply with our emotions and to see those emotions in others.

It is important to avoid generalizations about creative people and mental health. We each have a unique relationship with our mental well-being. My creative expression offers a valuable outlet for exploring and understanding a wide range of human emotions.

When we speak, we are echoing what we already know. These are familiar thoughts and knowledge. We are comfortably treading within our comfort zone.

However, it is in the art of listening that we open ourselves to learning something unknown. We should take the opportunity to learn from the experiences of others.

Listening is a dynamic act of discovery. Every word heard may illuminate new perspectives. Those words can challenge preconceived notions and enrich our understanding of the world of human experience.

The last point is for me to remember to tell my partner what I need or want. One partner needs to keep the other informed of needs and desires. When we do that, the household is more harmonious.

My lady is brilliant and nearly clairvoyant. However, she cannot guess what is on my mind. I have the same problem. I can only speak as a man, but I often fail to tell my partner what I want. So, ask questions and look beyond the answer to ask follow-up questions. That is how we learn about each other.

As I said in the beginning, this piece was written with me in mind. If you are still with me, let me know, OK?
