We Always Want to Break Free

As Humans, we hate our boundaries

Did you ever have that feeling wherein you feel unwell when you confine yourself to your home or a hotel room alone for more than 2–3 days?

To date, confining the convict within the four walls is considered a common punishment. We customized it to tackle our children’s mischief by giving them time-outs when they land us up in a helpless situation.

I keep pondering as to why is that we don’t like these boundaries. There are many more everyday examples that come to my mind.

  • A decent house you moved to, becomes a small house within 3Yrs after you come across a bigger house — which wants you to break free
  • Your 42inch TV at home looks smaller when you spent your holiday at a 5-star hotel with an 85inch TV. That’s the reason I like a theatre screen!
  • You get promoted and are elated for it. Three years down the line, you curse yourself for not being promoted further unlike your colleague. You feel like you are restricted to grow. You will be waiting to break that boundary, searching for a better job.
  • You do not want to hurt your partner by a break-up but neither do you want to continue your relationship with her. This suffocating feeling pushes you to break free. Did you enjoy that feeling when you finally give up your love, to become a free bird.
  • We love to explore more countries. We are not happy with citizenship in one country. Our brain wants to expand itself absorbing new experiences.
  • When we were children, we would like to grow faster. As teenage, we would desire a girl, looking at an adult. We would love to expand.

Is this feeling to break free good or bad?

Breaking the boundaries or expanding them is neither always good nor always bad, but you need to know where to stop and how to be satisfied with the present.

You need to know where to stop. Else, traits like greed, desire, and lust know no ends and will engulf you to push you to reach your heights only to throw you down the cliff later. Needless to ask you to turn back your history books to see how many had to bite the dust. Hitler and Ravana from ‘Ramayana’ are some of the well-known examples.

Taking it much deeper, sex is one such action wherein we try to expand ourselves by tending to become one with our partner.

In the same way, can we spread our love to everyone you meet? Can you love your family, your irritating neighbour, your dominating boss, a beggar on the road alike?

Humans are designed to expand and become one with the infinite.

I leave you with this thought here.

Cheers!
