Disclaimer — I documented our travels in June 2022 as we drove to Ohio from the state of Washington in the old Winnebago Sightseer RV. As I read through it, I thought it was a great documentation of the ups and downs, trials and successes of daily traveling in an RV full-time. I hope you enjoy it.

We left the KOA Sheridan at 7:40 am this morning. Forest must have really hurt his back cause today he is dragging that one back leg a little and having bad muscle spasms. We absolutely cannot afford another back surgery for him. I don’t know what to do.

It is sunny and 80 degrees. Today we are driving I-90 as far as we can. No plan. We will just see how far we can get.

There is a lot of road construction again. I hope we can just drive and make good time today.

Pulled off on exit 58 near Buffalo to get gas at Exxon for $4.79 a gallon. Total $125.00. Glad it is going down a little. Seems to be going down the closer we get to Ohio. I am thankful it isn’t $6.00 a gallon like it was in Washington.

This part of Wyoming is a lot of rolling hills, grass pastures, no trees, and a lot of cattle. We also saw several antelope in a field. It is beautiful country. It is awful windy.

Rough day driving in the wind today. It is so windy out here in these states. We used a lot of gas. Too bad the wind isn’t behind us. Then it could just push us home.

We were going to try to make it to the I-90 Truck Plaza for gas, but decided to stop 20 miles before it at a Sinclair because we were afraid we might run out. $4.79 again. Total only $75.00 this time.

It is such a hot day we are trying to use the air conditioner and it is sucking a lot of gas. The air conditioner doesn’t work very well. It’s not very blowing very cold air.

We have driven six hours already today and Rich’s arms are tired. I can’t seem to find a campground available with full hook up. We at least need electricity cause it is just too hot. There is no way we can sleep in a rest area with no fan or air. I wish the generator worked.

Finally made it to South Dakota. Stopped at the welcome rest area. This is a neat place. There is a teepee made out of wood beams and the view is magnificent. It is such a beautiful view.

I hope we can come back to South Dakota sometime and stay longer. I want to see Mount Rushmore.

Stopped for gas again. I swear that’s all we get done doing. Price was $5.09 and he put in a total of $119.00. That’s where all our money goes.

I got ahold of a KOA campground and got a spot for the night. I-90 Belvidere East in Midland, SD. We are still in South Dakota. Holy cow this is a long drive.

Got to the campground and got all set up. We got a beautiful spot by a pond. Rich said too bad he couldn’t just walk over there and fish for a bit.

I wish we could make it home tomorrow but I think we have two or three more days of driving. I am just ready to be done traveling for a while. We just can’t do these long trips of driving five and six days in a row. It sucks. At least nothing went wrong or broke today.

I hope we do okay in (our daugher’s) yard for a whole month.

Thanks for reading this travel diary. I hope you are enjoying the adventures. If you didn’t catch the previous days you can read them here.
