Virtual Journey to Lake Arrowhead Village, California
For that moment when you need to escape today’s reality

We had been working non-stop and needed some serious relaxation but had limited time to spare and a small budget to spare. So we decided that Lake Arrowhead would be the perfect oasis to get away and feel refreshed. In retrospect, it was the best decision for a fast and quick getaway!
The two hour drive felt like thirty minutes from Los Angeles. The mountains and valleys are breathtaking. Along the freeway, many stopping scenic points are designated for viewing and picture taking. We arrive very early in the morning, all was so peaceful and few tourists. Within two hours, there were visitors everywhere! Everyone was polite, nice and cordial. The weather was a bit hot, August, but all else was perfect.
Lake Arrowhead is comprised of some wonderful shops, outlets and restaurants. We highly recommend the waffle house restaurant. Great food. Another must checkout is their chocolate candy store and the cotton candy store. The outlets prices are too die for. We walked along the waterfront where all the boats, it was so romantic. We took pictures and embraced not only the beauty before us but the beauty we saw in each other. Lake Arrowhead brought out the romantic side of us. Everyone could use a bit refreshing now and then. We get caught up with the woes of life and forget the love right before your eyes. The Lollipop Park with it’s carousel was so adorable as the children happily rode along. All in all, it’s the best quick getaway ever and has been around since the 1800 and gone through many ownerships.
Lake Arrowhead is an unincorporated community and located in the San Bernardino Mountains of San Bernardino county, California, within the San Bernardino National Forest, surrounding the Lake Arrowhead Reservoir. It’s first inhabitants were the Paiute Indians, 1826. They used the mountains for their hunting grounds. These Native Americans were mostly killed in a fight with the white men of Little Bear Valley. The first Mormon road was built in 1852. Over the years, with all these owners, it evolved into a mecca for the rich and famous who lives secluded from the tourist. Their properties can be seen faintly from a distance.
It is a stunningly beautiful, cozy and quaint mountain resort paradise. Some of the activities are hiking, backpacking, camping, bicycling, lake tours, water and snow skiing, shopping, dining, outdoor entertainment, ice skating, fishing, horseback riding, lake tours, jet skiing, stages and so much more for the entire family, year round.
Lake Arrowhead Village is a mecca for the rich and famous. Many purchase homes reside in them for a minute and resale for twice the value per the tour guide. Liberace, Lucille Ball, RachieAlso, Goldie Hawn, Michael Jackson, Susan Hayward, George Raft, Janet Gaynor, Cary Grant, George A Ralphs, Michael Cudahy, Norma Talmadge and Joseph Schenck, Richard Guthrie, Dave Fleisher, McLean Stevfenson, Herman Hover, Timothy Patrick Murphy, Bill Miller and a few mobsters, namely Bugsy Siegel, just to name a few. Notably, it is said that Goldie Hawn used to entertain the tourist in the nude as the tour boat passed by.
With the rich and famous came film-making at Lake Arrowhead. Some of the movies shot there were “The Romance of the Bar O”, “The American President”, and Space Jam.
While Lake Arrowhead is a splendid oasis, it’s history is very interesting as it emerged into the scenic beauty attracting year round tourist from all over the world. Never a dull moment to be had when you visit.

The formation of these mountains, valleys, rocks are unlike anything you have seen. The view as we climbed to a higher elevation was spell bounding and scary.

Lake Arrowhead is a romantic and family get away from Los Angeles, Orange County or anywhere for that matter. It’s community has a strong sense of local pride seen in the merchants and owners.
