Vanilla Girls
A Poem
for my daughter
You and I, we are vanilla girls simple, classic, no muss no fuss.
You and me, we are vanilla girls plain and pleasant, easy and neat.
This team, this dyad, this us. The moment I knew you were here,
the second I felt you as you, I knew that you and me
we were a team, a forever like vanilla ice cream and anything -
the perfect pair, the match of matches. You and I, you and me, we crave
downtime and simplicity togetherness and peace.
We claim it when we can. We make and take and keep our moments.
We speak our language, laugh at nothing and everything
you and I, my vanilla girl, we are essential to each other.
